well it kinda depends on the school... what major are you interested in?

As long as you didn't want to get into engineering you should be fine.

like biology... im not a big fan of engineering... so does that help?

or in nc states case.. biological sciences or biochemistry

help please... i really want to know if i have a shot

You are fine. Honestly Elon has gotten harder to get into then State so you should be good. I will be greatly surprised if you get rejected although I have been surprised by some decisions this year.

I got in!!!!

Me toooo!
I can't decide between NC State and UNC-Wilmington.
any thoughts?

what do u want to do?

UNCW was my second choice, after NCSU. After I was accepted to both, there was no second thought- I'm finishing up my second semester at NC State, and I'm so glad I chose here. (:

It does depend on what you want to do, though. Engineering or sciences, come to State. Anything outside of that, and I'm not really qualified to talk.

My son had a tough decision....State, Wilmington, Elon. He spent several days at State checking out the school and the department he was interested in, spent a full day at UNCW and met with the department head, and spent a full day at Elon ( who he said has the BEST food lol) . He chose State because he was most impressed with the department, and felt that although State was huge, his department was small and he would not feel like a "number". He also met with his advisors there and liked them.
Personally, I loved Elon, it's beautiful and I liked the size and green campus. I did not like what seemed to be little diversity. (I thought UNCW was pretty, but too spread out and no football, so I wondered about school spirit. ) I have heard great things about all of these schools.

To sum it up, there is no advice I can give you but to take the time and spend a day if you can at both places. You can't go wrong with either, which is what makes it even harder! ANd like my son, you will probably love which ever you choose once you get there!!
Good luck!

My S (NCSU senior) is also in a small dept/major. Classes in his major generally have less than 20 students. He has had a great relationship with his advisor. His help has been invaluable over the years. Big state u. does not have to mean impersonal.

S has good friends at UNCW. He has spent time there with them. He says he likes Wilmington but doesn’t think he would have done nearly as well academically there because there are too many distractions, lol. Plus, NCSU football games have been a big part of college life for him. He has never regretted choosing NCSU.

My sister attended NCSU for biochemistry and graduated magna cum laude. She loved State and her biochemistry major prepared her well for UNC-Chapel Hill’s medical school. She is now a successful anesthesiologist, still FULL of wolfpack pride. That’s the one thing State students definitely have–hardcore school spirit.

cool… sounds like what i want to do… i might major in Biochemistry…
