Chance me please.

I was wondering what my chances were for getting into Harvard, Princeton, Brown, UChicago, UPenn, NYU, Duke, UCLA, UC-Berkeley
So basically here are my statistics, and I am currently a junior.

GPA: 3.6
Weighted GPA: 4.5
Class Rank: 14/789

I've taken all Honors/AP classes throughout my current three years of high school, and plan on continuing to do so as a senior. I took 3 AP classes as a sophomore, 6 AP classes as a junior, and will take 6 AP classes as a senior. I have and plan on continuing to get 4's and 5's on my AP exams.

SAT : 2070..........will retake and hopefully raise my score 150-200 points

Extracurriculars:

NHS (2 years)
Link Crew (2 years)
Mayor's Youth Commission (3 years, 1 year as Points Commissioner and 1 year as Vice-Chair)
Tennis (3 years, 2 years JV tennis and 1 year varsity) Season is in spring so senior year will not be present on my app.
Academic Decathlon (3 years, 1 year as captain)
Debate (3 years, 1 year as PFD captain)
Model United Nations (4 years, 1 year as Secretary and 1 as President)
Key Club (2 years)
Hospital Volunteer (4 years)
Work in lab at one of the top Neuro-research facilities: Barrow Neurological Institute (2 years). Doing project in which I'm cloning a gene found in Alzheimers.

Overall I have completed 600+ hours of community service through all of my activities. I am also Indian-American if that makes a difference. I was also wondering if it helps my odds if my brother attends Duke.

Also I am a National Merit qualifier and likely will get commended status

lol i think people stoped responding to chance threads.
Good leaderships. Got legacy so ED is much better. Id say u got a good shot at Duke,U of C, and UCLA. Chance me if u get the chance.

i think the ivies are low reaches for you if you can get your SAT up. Your excellent EC’s and rigorous course load makes up for your low GPA (low as in IVY low) and I think you have a really good shot at all of the other schools. Best of Luck! (And Indian does help)

bump…just in case there was any confusion I mean Indian American, not Native American.

bump…

GPA and SATs too low for harvard.

You have a very good course load and good ECs. I’d say you’re a good match for Duke, University of Chicago and UCLA. I think NYU too. Keep it up and good luck!

chance me when you get the chance

Are you from cali? cause then you are deff a match for the UC schools.
agreed, i think your GPA and SATs are too low for some of the ivies (as sad as that is)…but i would go for it because you have nothing to lose (except 60 bucks :p)

i would look at emory and vanderbilt if you’re looking at duke (those seem like good matches to me)

It will help that your brother is at Duke, especially if you can up the SAT that 150 points.

The GPA/rank/scores/ECs are not there for H and P. Brown will be tough, Penn maybe with another 150 points. If your UC GPA is over 4.2, all the UCs look good with just 75 more points if you’re in state or full pay OOS.

thanks for the help.

excellent chance
indian american makes a huge difference
i’d say you have a 30% chance for harvard

are you Indian Native American or Indian Asian American?
The latter will hurt you, whereas having tribal background will help

If you are Native American and have registered with your tribe, you have a decent shot
All of those schools have spots for URM, and you are rare XD

Oh wait now that I read your post you are Asian Indian

Sorry, you have low stats for Harvard and the ivies

Its hard to say, you have some decent, unique ECs
But you need a higher SAT to be fully in the game

ya I am definitely Asian Indian.

should i even bother applying to the ivies?

bump…

Stats too low even for UCLA, Berkeley. Do you live in CA?

No I do not live in California. If it helps, I have never gotten lower then a B, and my junior year GPA is a 3.7 UW, and a 4.7 W

I think he has a good chance for the UCs with just a small increase in scores. They need full pay OOS students and are taking more than in the past. Given a weighted GPA of 4.5, his UC GPA is likely at least 4.2 making him very competitive with even a 2100.
