I know my ECs are very lackluster and that I have no chance in any of the Ivy League schools or schools like MIT/Duke/Stanford. So schools that Im interested in are UC Berkeley (EECS), Emory, Wash U, Amherst, UF and Rice.

Just bumping this up :)

I think you actually do have a shot at Ivies, esp. Cornell, UPenn, Dartmouth, etc. I’d even say that Cornell may be a match. I very much approve of your rigorous schedule and high ranking.

UC Berkeley: Being Asian might not help, but reach/match
Emory: Match/easy match. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in.
Wash U: Match, but they’ve been doing weird things in admissions to get their enrollment up.
Amherst: Match
UF: don’t really know about this school.
Rice: Match/easy match

With your ranking, you can definitely try for some higher-up schools. Just concentrate on writing a spectacular essay – that will definitely help bolster your app, maybe even make the adcoms forget about EC’s.
Speaking of your EC’s; from looking there, I can’t quite figure out what you’re interested in. Do you have a particular field you want to go into? If you do, make sure you clarify that in your apps. If you’re undecided, that’s fine too.

And shameless plugging: You should apply to Dartmouth. It’s a truly amazing school. :)

Good luck!

Thanks limetime! Does anyone else have any other opinions? I might just try Dartmouth and Cornell.

Dartmouth…good shot…interview with them…before applying
UF…in-state student…diversity…you are absolutely in
I really do not know a lot about Rice and Washington U
Emory…i believe that you are in…scores are on their high side
Amherst…academic excellence in high school is their main demand…you have it…and your EC’s are good enough. IN

Reply to mine?

Yeah, UF would be a safety for you.
