I've taken the hardest possible schedule at my high school. However, I have gotten several B's every year - my grades have improved every year of high school. My junior year GPA was a 4.5. Senior year I will have Straight A's. No exceptions.

Extracurriculars are by far the strongest part of my application.

LEADERSHIP ROLES

Speech and Debate
President (12), Vice President (11)
I have been on the Speech and Debate team for 3 years. I am a varsity debater and was the state champion this past year. I have also placed in the Top 16 at several national tournaments and was the 1st place qualifier from Arizona for the National Forensic League Debate Tournament. Time spent is countless. Debate is my biggest passion and it will definitely show through achievements and awards.

National Honor Society
President (12), Vice President (11)
No explanation necessary :)

I founded a community/world service club at my school called Panacea (defintion: cure-all). The club is focused on specific world issues like the Darfur Genocide, Invisible Children, etc. There are over 50 active members. We do things like tutor refugee children from Somalia, mentor them, take them ice skating, to the movies, etc. We also work with the International Refugee Center on similar projects. I founded the club my sophomore year and have served as President since. Over 200 hours of community service.

Student Government
Class Secretary (12), Class Treasurer (9)

City of Scottsdale Mayors Youth Council
President (11, 12)

The Mayor's Youth Council is run by the Mayor of Scottsdale. We do local community service and hold meetings on city policies and activities. I was nominated by the Mayor's Youth Council for the Governor's Youth Commission and spoke at the "Youth Leadership Day". I was one of 4 panel members who were chosen as prominent future leaders.

I was also on the Varsity Mock Trial Team my junior year and we placed 5th at Regionals. I wasn't a big fan so I probably won't be competing next year.

RESEARCH/INTERNSHIPS

I was an intern for the Arizona Democratic Party for 3 months before the 2008 election. I organized volunteers, went canvassing to pass out campaign literature, made phone calls to voters, helped in the office, attended fundraisers, etc. I dedicated a lot of time and passion into the internship because I am an extremely zealous democrat who is fervent about politics.

This summer, I have an internship at Stanford University in the political science department. Specifially, in the Iranian Democracy Project. I am working 40 hours a week for 4 weeks.

This summer I am also attending the National Forensic League Debate Camp for 2 weeks at Emerson.

I'm not going to include a section about athletics because it's not significant enough. However, I played JV Soccer for 3 years of high school. I also ran track for 2 years of high school. I am athletic, however, I chose to spend more time with leadership activities and debate.

SPECIAL TALENTS?

I am fluent in Farsi. I can speak, read, and write the language. I have also visited Iran. I may write one of my essays about being Iranian and relate it to my future in International Relations.

I am typically a very good writer so I'm not too worried about essays. Recommendation letters will be from two of my favorite teachers who I think can write about me very well, and an additional letter from the Stanford Professor who is the director of the project.

What are my chances??
I am definitely applying to Georgetown, University of Chicago, UC Berkely, UCLA, Northwestern, George Washington University, NYU, etc. REACH - Columbia, U Penn, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Brown. My first choice school is by far Georgetown because I think it relates to my interests the best - as my future will be in politics.

what do you think? any advice?
