Chance me please?

Berkeley was my #1 choice, as it is better for my major, but I didn’t get in there, and Davis was my #2, since I just loved everything about the campus after I visited it. Looking back now, I guess Davis should’ve been my #1 anyway, I like the atmosphere here a lot better than the SF area (wouldn’t mind Berkeley’s summer weather, though :D).

does that mean davis’s summer weather is terrible?..hahahaha living in socal, i’m spoiled when it comes to weather xD…and also…i have signed up for college tours to davis, la, irvine and sd…i have been to berkeley before…a couple years ago…so hopefully this will give me a chance to find out which campus i like the most =]…btw…what’s your major?..seeing that berkeley was your first choice O_O

Summer weather isn’t terrible, but it can get pretty warm some days, which is annoying if you’re not used to it, warmer than SoCal I’d say. Glad to hear you signed up for tours, that will help you make an informed decision. I’m double majoring right now - Biological Sciences & CS.

Just a random question about UCD for the students that go there…
Know anything about the Bio-medical Engineering major for undergrads?
Also, is it easier to get in if you are from Davis?

@agj: to get in where?..as in a good graduate school?..i wouldnt know since i’m still a rising senior for hs…but it’d prolli wont hurt you that you come from davis considering that UC Davis is a good UC for research and what not (so i’ve heard)

@dmission: wow double major, cs is computer science right? also i’ve heard some mixed feelings bout uc davis…there are good things like the bio program and everything, but there’s also taht thing with the aggie band-uh situation. did that really affect your experience at davis as a whole?

I mean to apply to UC Davis undergrad if I live here and go to high school in Davis.

ohhhh my bad…and i dont really know sorry

agj: No unfortunately it’s not easier to get in if you’re from Davis. Biomedical engineering is very popular which makes it hard to get into, but the program itself seems great. I’ve taken some of the lower division classes and they were hard but interesting.

clc2513: Yes, CS is computer science. I actually don’t know what you’re talking about with the Aggie Band-Uh, so no, hasn’t affected my experience at all. The school pride and academics are great, though. :)

oohhh hahaha…there was t hat whole issue about the band being really rowdy and everything and fired their advisor or something?..i dont know the whole story…but i guess it wasnt that big of a deal since u didnt here about it lol. btw…i know this is pretty trivial…but how’s the food?..hahaha that really matters to me since i’ve lived at other universities for cty and i know college food can taste really bad hahaha.

Oh, yeah, hadn’t heard of that issue, haha. And, the school has a couple different residence areas, each with its own cafeteria and food style, but the food served is pretty similar (except for one place, Cuarto). I had some friends from Berkeley and Irvine visit and they all said the food was great compared to what they were used to.

ooohhh that’s good to hear! how’s the weekend life at davis?..i hear it’s a quiet town?..but then again i know there’s like the nice farmer’s market which i absolutely love the idea lol. and how’s the davis city?..good food? (sorry but i love food hahaha)

Weekend life is nice, lots to do, but it won’t always come to you, you have to go and get involved in different things. It’s a quiet town, but it’s also a college town, so lots of businesses are catered to college students - especially downtown, plenty of fun places, good places to eat (especially Pizza), etc. Yes, plenty of good food =P. I must say also one of the best things about Davis is the town itself. Everyone is extremely laid back and very nice. I’m sure this will be one of the things you notice when you visit. Be sure to get out and explore some of the town, not just the college campus!

what do u mean by getting involved in different things?..like community service clubs n such?..or like going out and exploring the place?..and fun places do u mean like bars and stuff (i’m not that much of a party person…hahaha)? sorry for the overload of questions xD i just think it’s a good idea to get a good feeling of the campus before i go there =]

i’m so glad to hear all of these answers bc it is really makin me happy that i chose davis :).

since you guys are already on the topic of nightlife, are tehre a lot of bars and clubs? im not a crazy party person but i do like to party once in a while lol

clc2513: That’s exactly what I mean, experience the different clubs, student groups, etc. And by fun places I meant just thought; besides the stuff on campus downtown has a lot of things to offer, and I know there is also a paintball arena which seems to be very popular. And I don’t mind the questions, it’s good that you’re preparing your visit.

xcrunner1478: Glad you found them helpful. As far as bars and clubs, there are a few in Davis, but the vast majority of students decide to make the short drive to Sacramento and Folsom and go to the ones there.

thanks dmission! what are your favorite things to do there?
