Um, many of these are reaches until you get your stats up. A 3.7 is not awful, but it will hurt you if you are not in the top 10 percent. And as for SATs, you know you have to do. Question though, since you did not do very well in the Enlish sections and did not ace the Spanish AP test or Subject tests, what do you speak? I don’t want to off rude, just a question. Anyway, your ECs are very interesting, as are your honor societies, but you need to brush up before admission. Good Luck!

Though your GPA isn’t very high, your ethnicity might help you out, but then again, your SAT is kind of low.
Boston University - High Match

There is no such thing as “rushing” to prepare for your sat exam. How can you expect to get into these top universities? Harvard? are you kidding me? Johns Hopkins and Duke? My cousin was number one in his class had well over a 100 average and near perfect sat scores and still got denied to harvard. 2 out of 2 of your sat sections are in the LOW 500s. How can you expect to get into harvard? Im not trying to be harsh or anything. But dont think just because your a minority you can get into these schools…

2 out of 3*

LOL. No, I mean if I can rush my scores. I might take Nov. Secondly, I think I can get above a 500 in both CR and Writing. But lets say I get above a 2100( I am retaking SAT I in Oct.). Do you think I have a chance?

I hate minorities in a college oriented sense. It’s annoying how with substandard scores you are considering top schools.
No you will get into any of them just because you are a urm.

“No you will get into any of them just because you are a urm.”
No, i will or will not? Great English for a non-URM. But I understand your point. NP. There just some reach schools. What’s really going to help me is my arts supplement. I won several national and international Opera Competitions. Thats why, I am apply to reach schools because I believe I have a talent. But iamawesome, I wish you the best of luck.

With a 2000 you will become competitive at the top schools.

Thispaki, your chances post, over and over, show a lack of knowledge. Perhaps you should review some common data sets so you could be more helpful.

Thanks for the tip. So basically I only need to improve my SAT. Wow thats sad that without a good SAT score you have no hope eventhough the rest of your application is great. W/e thanks though.

Also it helps if you have had commitment in your ECs, having less ECs but continuing through a long time helps more than having plenty of ECs but less time commited to them

Almost everything I have done has been for four years like theater, chorus, and etc. Yeah I really haven’t strayed from my activities that much.

Anymore advice?

MIT, Penn, Cornell, Duke, Harvard, JHU, Columbia, Princeton and Georgetown are all definitely high reaches.

Your unweighted GPA isn’t fantastic - though it isn’t necessarily bad, either. You MUST bring up your standardized test scores (dramatically) to even have a remote shot at most of these schools.

To be frank, I think you’re shooting too high - based solely on your stats now. The fact that you’re a URM will help you in the long run, but it won’t make up for below-average stats.

Any more opinions??

Bump********* Sorry but I would just like a few more opinions

I still find it amusing how you think you can get a 2100 (nevermind above a 2100). this means you must get atleast a 700 on each section. Now lets think about it for a minute. 2 sections are in the low 500s. So thats almost a 200 point increase. Hm I dont think so. You think you can get into Harvard? Havard denies nearly everyone. You are a singer? You have talent? I know too many people who got denied from Harvard (and other top notch schools) no matter what their talents might of been. I know someone who was an INTEL science research quarter finalist and an all time sailing regatta champion for her age and still got denied from Harvard and Yale. Her SATs were near perfect. And her weighted average was over a 100. Do you know why she got denied? BECAUSE SHE WAS WHITE. I personally hate affirmative action… Why should I pay for something I didn’t do? Anglo Saxens that have been in the US for many generations. My family came from greece and turkey only 50 years ago. But yes you will get into these schools because you are hispanic. And only because you are hispanic. I am sorry for the harshness. But I am sick and tired of seeing this.

PS Im not saying your not a bright kid. Im just saying based on your statistics it doesnt seem like your “Harvard Worthy”.

Dude, calm down.

i have to agree that these are all high reaches…which colleges are your safeties?

-iamawesome

Useless post, don’t listen to him.

Honestly, all those schools are reaches. If you get your SAT scores up to a 2000, you may get into one or two. Just work hard and take practice tests, SAT scores are not too hard to get up if you work at it. Some business schools where you might work out better could be Bentley, Babson, or Providence College. Hope this helps!
