Chance me, please!

Legacy (My father attended as an undergrad. Also, my uncle currently works there but I don't remember his exact title, and I know that won't help anyway haha. I guess it's just cool.)

I know Stanford is need-blind when reviewing apps, but because of my family's income I'd receive free tuition due to Stanford's new policy (along with many of the Ivies)...that would be AMAZING!

Anyway, down to business...

ACT: 28 (taking again and aiming for 30+)
SAT II U.S. History: 700
(taking more subject tests but sending ACT rather than SAT I scores)

I'm not sure at the moment what my class rank is.
AP scores: 4 on APUSH, 3 bio :(

-Intensive Algebra 2
-Women's Chorus
-PE
Sophomore:
-Intensive English 10

-Spanish 1
-Concert Choir
Junior:

Senior (this is most likely what my schedule will be):
-AP gov./econ

-Statistics at community college (would be doing AP but isn't working out with my schedule)
-doing independent PE thing

Extracurriculars:
-singing for 4 years in chorus/concert choir/jazz (school classes but involves very much time and dedication outside of school)
-2 years of voice lessons and 2 scholarships for them
-won "Outstanding Vocalist" award one year
-CCS Honor Choir freshman year
-section leader in choir
-in Key Club and NHS and will be an officer of both senior year
-went on service trip to Guatemala summer before junior year
-played JV basketball for one year and every Sunday during that time volunteered coaching kids in a mid-county basketball league
-I have accumulated many volunteer hours since sophomore year doing various community service projects through Key Club and NHS (I actually have kept a chart of all my volunteer work which I will send as part of my resume)
-I recently began independently volunteering for Aegis Assisted Living

Work Experience:
-I've been a long-term babysitter for two families since 2006
-I occasionally work for my dad who times races as a side job (mostly 5k/10k runs, swims, triathalons, etc.). My main task is usually computer work/data entry.

Wow, sorry this is so long. I guess all the classes weren’t really necessary. Oh well. I’d really appreciate some feedback!

You are required to report all SAT scores to Stanford if you took them, so it would be important for someone to give you a chance.

it’s really your essays more than anything else that will give us a picture of who you are and whether we think you will get in. you should estimate how good they are (get an unbiased rating of 1-10 from someone or something like that).

From what you have stated right now, I would say you are a little below borderline, but there is not enough information to give any kind of accurate chance

NJDS, are you positive that you must send SAT scores if you took them? Because Stanford’s website says:

“Applicants must self-report and submit all SAT scores or all ACT scores and cannot elect to “hide” any scores with either testing agency. Applicants may, however, selectively submit whatever SAT Subject Test scores they choose, as those scores are not required for admission.”

Note that it says ALL SAT scores OR ALL ACT scores. To me that sounds like you only have to send your scores from ONE of the tests but from EACH time you took that test.

Can anyone verify an answer regarding this?

It says you “cannot elect to hide any scores with either testing agency”.

I think that means you have to send all scores.

You need to report all the tests you have taken.

Here is the info of College Board on submitting SAT policy.

SAT Score-Use Practice Descriptions

1.) Highest Section Scores Across Test Dates — Version 1 (Highest M, CR, W)

2.) Highest Section Scores Across Test Dates — Version 2 (Highest M, CR, W in file)

3.) Single Highest Test Date — Version 1 (Sum of M+CR+W)

4.) Single Highest Test Date — Version 2 (Sum of M+CR+W in file)

5.) All SAT Scores Required for Review

6.) Contact Institution for Information

Stanford uses the option 5 – “All Scores”

Based on this, you are free to choose whether to submit all SAT OR or all ACT scores. You don’t have to submit all scores from both SAT and ACT.

According to this, I think you are not allowed to hide scores with either (one, or another) testing agency.

If they wanted all of your SAT and ACT scores, they would probably say something along the lines of “You have to send us the results of all SAT **and/B ACT tests you have taken.”

If you are unsure, you could email them and ask for exact clarification, but I do not think that is needed.

That’s what I’m thinking, Alone. But since I’ve gotten varied answers I think I will email them to check.

the resume is not doing it for me at all…academic stats are unimpressive, and EC’s are little below average…remember, this is Stanford you are applying to…
