IU admissions is a formula, which I do not know. If you are borderline (which you may be with that SAT, but I would think your GPA counld counter-act it), you can write an essay.

I’d assume you’re in, but write the essay anyways. I’d assume you could write a stellar one.

You’re definitely in. As long as you don’t have Ds or Fs on your transcript and you have SATs all above 500, you shouldn’t face any stumbling blocks. If you have a D or an F, your essay and extracurriculars should make up for it.

Congrats, IU is great! I should know, I went there!

Make sure that you have a backup plan in case you don’t get accepted to IU. According to this Indianapolis television station report, the lowest SAT accepted at IU for a recent year (2008-2009 or 2009-2010) was 1050 (cr+math). The average was 1174. 500 each on the cr and math is not good enough for IU anymore. IU is trying to raise its SAT/ACT numbers to keep them from being the worst in the Big Ten. They have significantly increased out of state admissions to do this, which was only 28% OOS in 1998, and 38% now.

I heard that IU is trying to increase their admission standards as well. If you get a 26+ ACT, I’m sure you’ll get accepted with your solid GPA. A previous poster was also right about the fact that they have a formula for rolling admissions. This also means that the earlier you apply, the better chance you have of getting accepted.

i was wondering if you could please tell me my chances as well i am a senior in high school and i have a 90 average im in 3 AP classes and recieved a 560 in critical reading 480 in math and 550 in writing but i am taking the ACT i am a female hispanic from new york
