Chance me please!

Hello all,

I am a senior and will apply priority to IU (Liberal Arts College, neuroscience major)

I go to a competitive large public school in Illinois
I've had an upward trend in grades throughout high school.
Course load was kind of rigorous. I will have taken 6 AP's by the time I graduate (Latin Lit, Latin Vergil, US Hist, Calc AB, Psych, Bio) and several honors level classes.
W GPA: 2.96/4 (Weakest part of my app... did not try at all my freshman and soph years but got straight A's junior.)
UW GPA: 3.33/4
School doesn't rank
ACT: 31
EC's:
Part time job over summer

Visited a third world country over summer 2007 (2 months) to volunteer at elementary schools there and taught the kids basic English (abc's, simple words) and basic mathematics.

Went to the same third world country over summer 2009 to work with a team of doctors at a hospital to teach impoverished families about hygiene, different diseases, the importance of immunization, etc. Had direct patient contact with the people there. Amounts to ~ 200 hours.

Several state awards for Nat. Latin Exam, not much else.

I'm a resident of Illinois that will apply for financial aid.

What are my chances at the LAS college?

Thank you all

Your ACT score is fine, but the GPA is a bit low. You probably will be admitted though if you apply early. IU does not really look at EC’s.

I did notice you will need financial aid. You should be aware that IU does not guarantee to meet full financial need, especially for OOS students.

This thread is a few years old, but you should read it.

alright thanks for the help… it really would suck if I don’t get much money from them because my income is sub 40k… sigh… might have to scratch Indiana off the list.

I think you’ll be fine. I have a lower GPA (3.0) and lower ACT score (27), am also out of state, and I got accepted on Monday without any problems.

Very very good chances.

congrats… I will definitely apply asap.
