Didn't do anything freshmen and sophmore year lol

Getting into COLA seems highly doable, but I’m not as familiar with freshman admissions so maybe someone else will have more information for ya. Your GPA is very good and your test scores seem good but I’m not sure what the average for freshman are, and after they admit the top 10% I’m not sure if they look at the next 10% (where you fall into) or OOS and transfers. Hopefully another board member has more details on that, or you could call admissions for more information. Have you taken any of your AP tests yet or are those all in process this year?

I think as long as your test scores stay up (are you taking the SATs again?) you stand a good chance. Again, hopefully someone with more freshman admitting experience will reply with better information. If nothing else, I’d be willing to bet you’d at least be offered CAP as a last resort if they somehow didn’t have room, because you seem to be a pretty strong applicant. Have you submitted your application yet?

If UT Austin thinks you’re a good candidate but doesn’t have the room for you (remember, most of the top 10% students in TX apply there, so it fills up faster than the other campuses) they’ll offer you the chance to go to another UT campus like San Antonio or Arlington. After a year there, if your GPA is above 3.2 and you complete 30 units, your transfer to Austin is guaranteed.

Your other option is to apply to another UT campus anyway, just as a backup, and then apply for a transfer later. Even if you’re not in CAP, your chances of an in-system transfer are better than external.

~ Top 18% is alright with your test scores. Get your SAT scores up to a 2000+ and you’ll have a pretty good chance. As of right now, you’re most likely to be CAP’ed/rejected. UT doesn’t offer the summer program anymore.
