Also I am a guy-would this help me at colleges like Bard who have a skewed male/female ratio?

Thanks!!!!!

bard - match
oberlin -low reach
goucher - never heard of
Dont know about the rest either

For lower tier schools ( no offense i just mean not top 20) just use college board website and look at the SAT ranges and GPA

Your GPA should be above 3.75 and if your SAT falls in lower 25% it is a great reach, mid 50% it is a match, and upper 75% it is a probable. You can predict your chances very well like this for the lower tier schools

Thank you ib612!! anyone else?

Can you be more specific about your SAT score?

Math-690
writing-700
reading-610

Bard College (applying through Immediate Decision Plan) - not familiar with this plan
Oberlin College - reach
Goucher College - match
Clark university - match
Clarkson university - match
R.I.T - match
SUNY Binghamton - low reach
SUNY New Paltz - safety/match
Hampshire College - low reach

Thank you LilyMoon! The immediate decision plan is basically a non binding early action. http://www.bard.edu/admission/applying/idp.shtml

anyone else? please? I’ll chance you back!

Is Bard your first choice then? Have you visited any of the schools yet? They are all very different. If you have any questions about SUNY New Paltz…my son transferred there.

yes I have visited almost all of the schools. Bard is my first choice, I heard New Paltz is very similar, is this true?

bump (10 char)

I don’t think Bard and New Paltz are all that similar except for being liberal arts schools in upstate NY.
Bard is a private school and has a reputation of having a more intellectual and wealthy population. New Paltz students would be more money conscious and middle class. While both supposedly have creative and artsy students, NP is very down to earth while Bard is supposed to have students with more of an attitude of “I’m special and different.”
Bard’s faculty gets very involved with students from what I’ve heard, while NP has more typical professor/student relationships. Both have small class sizes but Bard is a much smaller school. Social life at Bard is very limited. NP has more going on.
If I can answer any questions feel free to ask.
