Hey guys,

I have a pretty weak GPA of 2.72 unweighted. My ACT score is 22. My class is not ranked. I am in some extra curriculars, but the ASU app doesn't ask for that.

What do you think are my chances of being accepted into Arizona State University? I am an out-of-state student. How about Michigan State University?!

Please help! I've been stressing over this for a while now.

Ok

Does AzSt use weighted GPA? If so, that would help.

What is your weighted GPA?
Does that include the weighted GPA for ALL your classes (including PE and electives)?

Your chances are much better at AzSt then at Mich St.

What is your home state?

What is your major?

What are your reasons for picking AzSt?

Can your parents afford all Out of state costs?

From the ASU Website:

Students must meet one of the following aptitude requirements:

3.0 GPA in competency courses (2.5 - 2.99 considered)
Top 25% (top 26-50% considered)
ACT 22 (24 nonresidents)*
SAT Reasoning 1040 (1110 nonresidents)*
*ASU does not require the writing portion of these tests.

Competency courses… So I’m guessing that is the core classes only. Like Math, Science, English, Social Studies. No electives like PE. At least that’s how MSU does it.

If I count my core classes only, I drop to a ~2.58 from 2.72.

My home state is Michigan, I plan on going into their Business school, I heard ASU has a good Business school so I applied there, and yes my parents are willing to pay the cost.

You might consider The University of Alabama. It has a really strong business school.

here’s the link to the business school… [The Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration](http://www.cba.ua.edu/)

It’s a beautiful campus, strong academics, better weather, and nicer dorms! :)

Alabama accepts your best weighted GPA that is on your transcript (including PE, electives, religion, whatever). So, if your total weighted GPA is 3.0, then you’d get accepted to Alabama.

Here’s the link to Bama… [The University of Alabama](<a href=“Page Not Found | The University of Alabama”>http://www.ua.edu/)

Here’s the link to the virtual tour and iTour [Campus Tour - The University of Alabama](<a href=“Page Not Found | The University of Alabama”>http://tour.ua.edu/)

The GPA on my transcript is 2.722. Still not the 3.0 needed for Alabama.

I also heard that Arizona State University has a 92% acceptance rate? Is this true? I also looked at other websites, looking at other people who have gotten admitted to ASU, I see a lot of people have GPA’s and ACT’s lower than mine. But that still doesn’t guarantee my admission. I just want to know how my chances are at ASU.

Thanks for your help, btw!

So any other help?

^^^

AzSt does have a high acceptance rate. But, do they require a 3.0 GPA?

Your ACT is 62 percentile.

Have you considered going to a cc for a year and then transferring with better grades?

ASU says 2.5-2.99 is considered. I see on their acceptance chart that a lot of people with below a 3.0 have been accepted.

Yes I have considered a CC. I was thinking if ASU doesn’t work out, I should move to Arizona regardless, go to a CC there then apply to ASU if all else fails.
