Hey, everyone! I'm a Demon Deacon hopeful interested in double majoring in Health and Exercise Science and English. I just sent in my application a few weeks ago (RD).

What do you think about my chances?
White female from NJ
29 ACT
(34 English, 33 writing, 25 math, 25 science)
3.5 GPA uw (at one of the top schools in the state, and we don't weigh our GPAs)
My school follows an all-honors curriculum, and only 1 AP is offered. I didn't take it because it's in calculus and I'm not a very good math student haha.

I work steady jobs as a receptionist at a neuropsychologist's office and as a server at Carvel.
I have been horseback riding for ten years.
I am a member of SADD (Executive Board Member and secretary), American Cancer Society (both in school and outside of school, co-chair of two committees), and the World Language Honor Society (Co-President). I've been a student council representative for all four years.
I'm a volunteer religion class teacher at a church, and have been for four years. I also volunteer at the local SPCA.
I interviewed at Wake back in August, and I think it went really, really well.
My essays were rather good, as writing is a talent of mine and hopefully a potential career.

I got a 1980 on my SATs, but I'm afraid to send that in. I'm not sure if it will help me or hurt me.
720 Writing
650 CR
610 Math
What do you think?! Let me know if you need any more information :)
Thanks for your help!

Irishheart beat, I just sent in my ED application. I was wondering why you didn’t apply ED? I have similar ACT scores. I will let you know when I hear something. Are you apply to any other colleges?

HI, Irishheartbeat. My son, who is a senior at Wake, had very similar stats. He did, however, apply early decision; I do not know how much that helped him. I definitely think you have a good chance, your entire resume is very impressive and demonstrates a well-rounded student. The fact that your interview went well is also a good sign. I think Wake would be lucky to have you! Good luck!

Unfortunately, ED is just not financially possible right now Especially since my family is moving to South Carolina this upcoming summer. The 'rents are definitely leaning towards the U of South Carolina Honors Program for financial reasons, obviously.

Believe me, I would have done ED if I could have!

But best of luck to you EDers! Let me know as soon as you get your letters!

Bummer. I was a little surprised about not providing financial aid to ED applicants. I know someone who applied to Tufts ED and completed the financial aid forms with the ED application. The person was accepted ED and was provided a financial aid package. She received $25,000 in grants…still needed $25,000. She accepted and in April, her financial aid package was confirmed. Maybe Tufts has more of an endowment. Good luck…I will keep you posted if I get in ED. All the private schools are so expensive!
