Chance me please!!!!!!!

UC GPA: 3.96
SAT: 2110
SAT 2's: 800 (Math Level 2), 720 (Chemistry)
Graduating with the completion of 10 AP courses

ECs: Strong
Essays: I think they tell about me the most...VERY strong
Leadership: Eagle Scout, Co - President of Math Club...fairly strong
Community Service: PLENTY

How do I look?
I am applying as a Biomedical Engineering major here (back up is Materials Engineering, which I heard is the easiest engineering major to get into at LA)

if you’re in a minority ethnic group you’re basically guaranteed in.

There are about 50 Materials Science majors at UCLA… I wouldn’t go with it.

http://■■■■■■■/UCLAstats

-.-

Had a slightly higher GPA (4.36) and marginally better SATs - got in c/o 2010 graduating end of this school year with my degree in BioE. I feel that things may have been getting tougher, and BioE is definitely one of the more selective majors, but you’ll have a shot. They aren’t really expanding the department because we’re about at capacity right now.

deuces: thanks for the feedback. from what i’ve been hearing, i hear that it getting extremely competitive to get in these days. is material science considered impacted?

anyone wanna chance me???
BUMP THIS THREAD UP PLEASE!!

I think I would also qualify as a “First Generation College Student”

anyone wanna say how I am now?

how do you qualify?
elaborate more on ECs
also, is Math II hard?

Unfortunately you’re out of state, which will make it more difficult to get in than it already is for you.

No, I am actually from San Diego, CA

I just stuck Columbus, Ohio for my stalker friends to not find me lol

But YES, I’m in-state

qualify for 1st gen i mean

and @arklogic UCLA has a higher acceptance % for OOS and its going up because of the economy.

chances please?

elaborate on ECs, and how are you 1st gen?

my mom dropped out of college and my dad has some college as well…
I actually decided to apply as a Materials Engineering major, which has a 65% acceptance rate.

ECs eh? 4 Years of Boy Scouts, 6 Years of tae Kwon Do, 5 years of library volunteering, 5-6 years of temple volunteering, 3 years of science olympiad, 2-3 years of student class council (need not be elected…just go and share ideas for improving school), and 2 years math tutoring club

nice ecs
but doesnt a 3.96 UC gpa mean more Bs than As or that you did not take hard courses?

I took 7 APs my sophomore and junior years; out of the 24 courses (each semester has 6) I got 9 Bs and 15 As. My unweighted comes to about a 3.63

did you take out electives, health, driving, pe?

yup. I only have electives freshman year and senior year
