Chance Me Please...

<p>Hey, I'm an African American who is going into the college application season and am wondering what my chances are. This past Wednesday I actually had an interview with a Yale alumni that went extremely well and applied there for the Restrictive Early Action.</p>

<p>GPA: 4.3
SAT: 1890 (I know low. Will be retaking them in Dec)
SATs II: Will get these scores at the end of Nov.
Class Rank: 7/150</p>

<p>Which Ivy's do you think I could get into? Would love to hear your opinions.</p>

<p>none until you get those SATs up =P aim for Cornell or Dartmouth</p>

<p>You have strong and rounded ECs, coupled with significant time commitment to your jobs. Being a first-generation college student, and being black will help a lot. With that said, your SAT score is very low for the ivies, and I don’t think you will have a serious chance unless you raise that score to at least 2000 (but there are always rare exceptions). </p>

<p>With your resume, I think Dartmouth will be the most receptive.</p>

<p>Thanks. I really appriciate the honesty. Any suggestions of top schools to apply to? Top three at this point would UVA, Georgetown, and Duke.</p>

<p>Get your SATs up and you have a great chance at any ivy. Let me know how Yale Early action goes when you find out! </p>
