do i have a chance of getting in? and if so, how high or low
Thank you!

If you decide to apply, you’re going to have to pick one of the SEVEN undergraduate schools and colleges at Cornell. Each of these colleges has their own admissions office and set of procedures. You have to be more specific if you want an accurate “chancing” (and even then it won’t be very accurate, as none of the posters here are clairvoyants or admissions officers).

Nothing you put down makes you seem like any sort of fit for Hotel, which emphasizes work experience or some other demonstration of interest and dedication to hospitality.

im not sure if im a “good fit” for any of the schools of Cornell but i am interested in their hotel program and will be explaining that in my personal statements. or ILR i havn’t completely decided yet but its between these two schools.

ILR and Hotel Administration are two completely different fields. I suggest you look more into what you really want to do. If you’re not sure, go with A & S.

I’d say you have a shot for ILR. You don’t seem like a fit for Hotel, to be honest.
Also, reconsider your plans for the SAT. Unless you blow your mind out with studying, you aren’t going to jump from a 2030 to a 2300+.

It is possible to apply to both a primary and secondary school, but very few applications actually make it to the secondary school - only 4% of people get into their secondary school. It’s for those places where they feel you would really fit in with another college.

The real program for business at Cornell would be AEM in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, but you don’t really have much of a chance at that with those stats. ILR, you might have a better chance if you write some amazing essays. Hotel is difficult when you have no related ECs. And being a Chinese female isn’t going to help you much either, since you’re not applying to engineering.

If you want business, then apply to AEM (Applied Econ and Mgmt) in CALS. But that’s extremely competitive, and pretty much impossible with those stats.

ILR looks for a lot of leadership, debate team, Model UN, and other ECs similar to those. I can guarantee that if you apply to ILR like its a business major, then you’ll get rejected. It’s difficult to describe. If I had to explain it in layman’s terms I’d say it’s a gov/econ blend [curriculum-wise at least].

Hotel Adm is top in the country and very competitive. You don’t seem like a remote fit for that. Unless you have experience in the hospitality industry, then your SOL. Don’t bother applying without significant work experience.

Overall, Cornell looks like a pretty big reach for you. They place a great deal of stress on fit and you don’t seem to fit into any of the colleges besides the standard A&S they have at every other university, and even that’s a stretch with your stats.

So you guys made your way over from the UCSD, Dartmouth, UChicago, AND UCLA boards together? AND you both have an interest in Business?
Nah doesn’t sound like a ■■■■■ to me…

Dude, if this is a ■■■■■, it’s like the worst ■■■■■ ever. Their stats are both pretty average stats, nothing ridiculous. And how many thousands of people apply to those schools every year…

we’re just friends who decided to have similar usernames for fun -_-
but thank you for the replies and would it make a difference if i had outstanding circumstances to explain my low gpa?

Hahaha, ILU, I almost commented on that as well, but I didn’t feel like exposing my stalkerish tendencies.

I guess she felt that if she posted twice, shed get more chances? People these days…

She could’ve at least chosen different names, thisgirl and thatgirl are pretty obvious. But she did raise her SATs by 300 points between the two posts. I’m sure there’s some people in the SAT prep boards that could use some of the techniques she used.

hahah you guys are ridiculous. We’re just girls that really want to go to a good college; why would we waste our time with two different usernames. AND our extracurriculars are completely different. AND *** is a ■■■■■. because i am not those monsters under the bridge >:[

our ec and everything’s different. i dont have the time to fake stats and be a ■■■■■ -_- whatever that is ( are they the little people on the pencils with the hair?). & did you actually check all those threads?
