I have had many people read it and they were impressed. About growing up in two cultures/ my recent trip to Ethiopia

I am passionate about everything that I do and I truly work hard... but are these stats enough to get me into my top choice U of W????? How much does being a URM help?

Thank you so much!!!

Your GPA and SAT is in the lower-mid range of acceptance based off of 2009’s stats. Your ECs are great though, you’ve clearly got some solid diversity, and it sounds like one of your essays at least is good.

You’ve definitely got a shot at acceptance. Submitting as early as possible can only help your chances, and being in-state helps a ton. I’m not sure what a URM is, so I can’t answer that question though.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-washington/814185-nervous-applicant-any-insight.html</a></p>

I don’t think the University of Washington takes URM into account because of this:

[Smith v. University of Washington](http://www.cir-usa.org/cases/smith.html)

But here’s the spread:

Caucasian 2,486 (46.8%)
Asian American 1,589 (29.9%)
International Students 505 (9.0%)
Other/Non-reporting 247 (3.4%)

Underrepresented Minority 588 (10.9%)
African American 131(2.5%)
Hawaiian/Pacific Islander 44 (0.8%)
Hispanic/Latino 337 (6.2%)
Native American 76 (1.4%)

Nice AP classes. It would be a bonus if you got some A’s in those classes as well.

I think ZackB321 nailed everything else.

Despite the lower gpa and test scores, I think your rigorous class load, deep extracurriculars, and essay will help you get in. If anything URM may just help push you over the top, but I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in.
