Peer Counseling - basically attending and assisting with student affairs in their paths towards college (3473 students in our school from 9th -12th). I am a scholarship coordinator. As a peer I am also academic adviser for the 12th, 11th and 10th grade classes. Chosen through a selective pool within our school.

<p>Honestly, the church volunteer work probably isn’t going to get you any points in the UC system. </p>

<p>The fact that you’re low income will probably help, though. However, it’s difficult to tell how it will turn out because of the recession.</p>

<p>Pretty good GPA. SAT and SAT Subject Tests might hurt you some, but your personal story will certainly intrigue them. LA appears more likely to admit you than Berkeley because the Fall 2009 numbers showed that LA admits had slightly higher GPA but lower SAT scores than Berkeley admits. I know a lot of freshman here who tell me that their SAT scores were well below 2000. This is all assuming you are applying L&S, though.</p>
