The tenth.
Your chances aren’t great. Your stats are slightly below average imo, but I guess you can see how much the 2 summer college things helps december 10th @ 5 PM?

through ED, besides the higher acceptance rate, is it generally easier to get into a school because of an applicant pool difference? i mean, the kids applying to Harvard won’t apply ED to cornell, but maybe will RD. do you think this thought has any validity?

Of course it does, only applicants whose first choice is Cornell apply ED. The applicant pool is much smaller and it is easier to get in, but you have to realize that a much higher % of people applying ED are qualified compared to RD. There will of course be long-shots, but not nearly as many as for RD. Best of luck in 9 days!

Thanks alot. good luck to you too… if you’re applying, that is.

If anyone else would put in their two cents, it would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

i think the cornell summer thing will stand out, as you’ve obviously experienced student life and you liked it enough to return. you also got mostly Bs and as a high school student studying during the summer at a challenging school like cornell, i think that will be taken into account. did you mention your experience during the summer in your essays? i think if you really conveyed enthusiasm for being at the school, that would help you.

haha i wrote my entire personal essay on my Cornell experiences. It wasn’t showy, but it got to a point. It was based on my first visit to Cornell in the 8th Grade. From then on, i’ve loved it and so on and so forth.

Also, my grades have gone up considerably each year… idk if that will do anything, but hey, at least i didn’t drop.

cornell recalculates gpas?

No, that’s my GPA in Cornell based on the undergrad classes i’ve already taken.

People in this thread are being ridiculous. Your stats are fine, they’re all at least in the middle 50%, very solid. You obviously love Cornell given your participation in the summer college and your ECs, while not amazing, are decent. You have a great shot. Good luck!

i think you’ve got a fair shot :)

Thank you very much all of you :)

I wrote my last comment at 2 AM and it was kind of vague, imo, so let me go a bit more in depth.
Your SAT [Just the reasoning test] is about exactly on the 50% mark [excluding writing, of course] for CAS, but your GPA and ranking are fine.
It’s a shame you didn’t apply ED, your chances would have been great. As it is, you have a shot, but as you probably know, a lot of people apply with your stats and in the end it just comes down to essays.

…i did apply ED… i hope you’re not talking to someone else in this thread, because i’d feel like a loser… but i don’t think many people have screwed up writing so horribly, so i think you are…

if you are, thank you very much. i really appreciate it. :)

Sorry, for that, I’m blind >_>
Then you have as good a shot as most people here
Cornell doesn’t look at writing, so don’t sweat that. It’s a shame because I actually did pretty well on the writing part of my SAT [710 CR/760 M/760 W].

are you applying Cornell ED? if so, your SAT alone gives you a pretty serious shot. i mean, a 2230 is a really solid score.

Well, I’m applying ED to Engineering and the median score there is 1440/1600 and mine is 1470, so it’s really not that much above average. I guess we’ll see on Dec 10th? I’m nervous as hell :(

wow it’s really that high?? that’s absurd! is engineering the hardest to get into / highest SAT?

Well, A & S has the lowest acceptance rate and the second highest median SAT score, so I don’t know if Engineering is the hardest to get in (I would argue no), but it does have the highest median SAT score for Cornell.
