Extracirriculars: Filled Common app and then some, but most of them are employment/volunteer

Essays: really good if i dont say so myself
I also wrote a little something something (750 words) in the additional information section that (could potentially sway the adcoms one way or the other)

att least, i think so
i could be dead wrong tho

P.S. I go to the (imo) best public high school in NYC
and its ranked top 25th nationally, so that never hurts, does it?

very few ppl in my school are applying to BC
they’re all going to freakin Yale or Dartmouth or UChicago or something

I would say there is a very low chance of acceptance based upon your GPA and class rank, unless your explanation is amazing. And from what you’ve provided it doesn’t seem that you were involved in many extracurriculars.

Dear antonioray : New York has the second heaviest representation at Boston College after Massachusetts. Regardless of whether you are attending the Bronx High School of Science or Stuyvesant, your average is going to be seen against the rest of the population as a real issue. Your application will come across as one that represents an excellent test taker but not someone who takes day-in/day-out academics seriously. Honestly, this is not just going to be an issue for you at Boston College but all of the Top 50 USN&WR institutions.

Your profile does not supply any background on sports, music/arts, clubs, leadership, community involvement, or school spirit activities. You have supplied nothing on the difficulty of your course work against the most difficult available at your school and your AP course load is missing. You will be competing against students who have successfully executed an AP curriculum consisting of five to ten AP exams.

About 3% of Boston College’s admitted class is between the 25th and 50th percentile of their High School class. Less than 1% is below the midpoint of their High School class. You are an extremely long shot to get an acceptance in the regular decision round based on what has been presented. Our guess is that you are going to have to apply to a rather large number of schools in the hope that at least one school will be able to balance your board scores and average.
