Chance me please!!

I'm a freshman at Claremont McKenna and I'm applying to Barnard (my first choice!), Georgetown School of Foreign Service, and Tufts. I also would love other suggestions for schools to look at!

Mixed academic record, great grades in government and in my philosophy seminar but not so great grades in french and calculus. My overall GPA for first semester is a 3.0
I'm in Model UN and have a job on campus
My letter should be really good, the professor really liked me and I'm going to slave over my essays.
High school GPA 4.0
full international baccalaureate diploma recipient
received the senior faculty award and junior award for social studies
received the academic letter every year
did model UN all four years, Secretary General of Policy junior year, Secretary General senior year. Ran my school's Model UN conference, went to a multitude of conferences and got a bunch of awards, including the Peacekeeping Award at McGill's conference
Member of National Honor Society and Thespians (theater honor society)
cast member of musical my junior year, choreographer of musical my senior year and was nominated for a regional theater award for it

summer after freshman year and summer after sophomore year did the Junior Statesmen Summer School (Government centered study program)
Summer after Junior Year did Tufts Summit (study abroad program in France) and a program at the Democratic Convention in Denver

Why on earth would Barnard be your first choice?

You’ve got a good EC resume, but your college GPA may be a too low for Georgetown SFS. It would be easier to chance you with some SATs/ ACTs.
I would suggest GW maybe… What kind of schools are you looking for??
And yes, be sure that your LORs and essay show your strengths and who you really are.

The 3.0 pretty much knocks you out of Georgetown SFS, and probably Tufts too.

My ACT is a 31 and I’m looking for a school in a city where the partying is not insane…and preferably where the classes are smaller (and that flowerhead is why Barnard is my first choice, it fits all of those criteria and then some)

Not sure about the party scene but you can try Villanova (Philly), American (DC), Fordham(NYC), Brandeis(Boston), and plenty of others.
I would suggest NYU but it may be too big for you.

Why do people keep complaining about partying? Nobody is forcing you to party. You can stay in the library and study, if that’s what you really want.

With a 3.0 GPA, I don’t think you will be a competitive transfer anywhere. I think you should relax and try to make it at CMC, which is a great school.

^ “With a 3.0 GPA, I don’t think you will be a competitive transfer anywhere.”

Um, she just got into Barnard today. WHAT UP!!! Stats aren’t everything.
