Here are my stats

GPA: 4 (on a scale of 5) so pretty much a B+ avg

IB Student
9 AP Classes taken (got 4 or 5 on all exams)
Nat Merit Semifinalist
Competed in Intel ISEF and ISWEEEP (4th Place) 2009 ( international science fairs)
HOSA nats 2009
NHS 4 years
Led my religious group as financial administrator and raised 8000 dollars for a nonprofit charity in our annual end-of-the-year student planned charity event

I don't do so hot in math (Bs and Cs), and I actually got an F for my 1st sem in precal last semester, does this mean i'm screwed?

Honest answers only please, if you think I might have a chance, that's ok, if I'm dead, please tell me that too. Chance me and i'll chance you back.

Thanks!

oh just a note, does it make an impression if your grades improve drastically 2nd sem of junior year?

bump, anyone?

You are obviously a very bright applicant (as evidenced by your course load, SAT score, and Intel ISEF participation). Have you talked to your counselor to see what you can do about the F? You can try retaking the course at a local community college.

While UT Austin is a school with a very good reputation, it’s not as cut-throat in terms of selectivity as schools like the Ivy League. I honestly think you stand a good chance at getting in, provided that you make up your 1st semester Pre-Calc grade.

In reference to your second post, an upward trend will definitely be noticed and is often looked upon very favorably, so keep it up! :)

thanks! bump

bump. anyone?

bump bump bump

bump, anyone else?

bump… :D
