Chances of getting in???

It’s so hard to chance OOS for UNC because schools like these take about 75% IS and only 25% OOS so the OOS are the best of the best.

I would say reach/high reach.

Anyway, seems like you’ve done well for yourself so I don’t doubt you’ll get into a school either way.

Best of luck! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/851357-chance-me-please-ill-chance-you-too.html

State law limits the freshman class to 18% OSS, not 25%. Also, your ACT score is in the inner quartile range, but I would say its a bit low for OSS.

I was actually just on the UVa website and it said that admission rates for in-state are from like 42 to 47% and for OOS is about 25 to 28%. So obviously a lot more competitive for OOS.

Thanks for the replies… Yea I know it’s going to basically take a miracle but still hoping!!

but this is the UNC thread, not the UVa thread…

Honestly, I would say in . . . 80% chance . . . just my opinion . . .

your weighted GPA seems pretty low for having such a good unweighted.
But your EC’s are great, and the alumni recs will help if they really truly know you personally, and were not just chosen because of their prestigious position somewhere.
I think you have a pretty good chance for an OOS. you’d almost definitely be in if you were in-state, probably more like 40-50% since your OOS.
