If you can, at the end of your comments please post a present of the chances for both schools. It doesn’t have to be precise so say what comes to mind.

You have a decent/pretty good shot for Cornell for ED. If you have taken the SATs just once, maybe consider taking them again to get close to 2200. You really need a good math score to compete with a lot of the prospective physics majors.

I’d say it would really help you if English is not your first language. But the fact that you are originally from Africa does help you. Your volunteer work with the embassy is impressive and that you volunteered in Africa. But I am not sure if your volunteer work is from middle school when you still lived in Africa (middle school achievements don’t carry too much weight unless they are something really spectacular). It would help if you got more volunteering work, esp. lots of hours for one or two organizations. If you are staying true to yourself, schools really like to see you take pride in your heritage or address it in some way in your application. Mention why you really think physics is your path, and how you will use it and what inspired you.

I don’t know the other schools and the students that attend them well, so it would not be fair for me to say what is expected for admission. I’m also not an admissions counselor or a calculation site, so I can’t give you a percentage. But this is just my opinion based on the people I have met at Cornell and what I know about them.

thank you very much for reply

and oh yes i went to Africa in high school:)

If your ethnicity is “black”, then I would say you have excellent chances–you could have come from Africa and been white, I don’t know. In fact, not just black–if you are any URM. If not, try to riase your SAT scores; also, your rank isn’t stellar (this is if you are not URM).

Good luck with ED.

Nice stats. 6/10 = 60% it is good to have taken 50% of the ap courses offered at your school, so you are good there. Right on track with SAT, I believe that 2120 is the average for Cornell. Take the SATs again and study for a 2200+ to have a great shot.
Decent other stats, but for race you will have a better chance if you are “black” over “white” although I dont think they can tell if you bubble in “african american” nationality.

Good Luck!!! I am fairly confident that you have a good shot at admission via ED.

yes i am afroamerican so are my parents, i dot know if we are considered African Americans but we all are citizens too.

Then your chances are high

^^^^ i see
