Chance me please!!

<p>Hi I am a senior at a private school In Iowa. Pomona is my top choice school please chance! I am a girl and a Minority (hispanic)
4.0- unweighted 5.1 weighted
Major- COMPUTER SCIENCE!

15th place Nationally at National History Day
Reconized by the Governor for my research about gene patenting</p>

Over 10 hours a week researching genes at a local hospital</p>

<p>Recs- They should be really good, one from my computer science teacher and one from my AP lang teacher. Also supplemental rec from well know science researcher, they I interned for.</p>

<p>Will I get in??</p>

<p>My daughter had similar stats, ILCS, and she’s now a freshman at Pomona. (and loving every moment)</p>

<p>In the crazy world of college admissions, nothing is guaranteed, but I’d say if your essays are even halfway interesting you’re as close to a shoe-in as I’ve ever seen.</p>

<p>As enkephalon said, if your essays are interesting, you look like you’re in good shape to be admitted by some great schools. Interviewing with Pomona, either with an alum or on campus, may also add to your candidacy. If you’ll be in the area at some point in the fall, doing an on campus interview may carry slightly more weight.</p>

<p>Also, I could be wrong, but Pomona requires two recommendations from teachers who have taught you in academic subjects, and I don’t think they count computer science as an academic subject. You should call or email the admissions office and inquire to be sure before you ask your recommenders. If the comp sci teacher will give you an outstanding rec, consider using it as a supplemental rec.</p>
