Im hoping for decent/good recs and essays.

Currently I am struggling to decide on a major. I have interest in business, but also engineering. My MAJOR concern is that if i apply as an engineering major, which i would ultimately like to do, I do not have enough "science" accomplishments to back it up and also i haven't taken AP Physics :/. Any advice? My resume is probably more business oriented, but are there some schools that dont weigh the major with the ec's as much?

Right now I am applying to: Stanford (considering SCEA), USC, Princeton, CMU, NYU, Northwestern, Upenn M&T program (considering ED), UC Berk, UCLA, UCSD, Columbia, and MIT

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post. Any input on my chances at these schools and which major would be safest at what school would be sooo great! Thanks again!

Your list is extremely reach heavy. You need to look at score ranges and better understand the admissions process. Currently you are not competitive for Stanford, Princeton, Penn, Columbia or MIT.

The top UCs are reaches as is NU, CMU and USC. Not knowing your rank it’s hard to say how much of a reach.

There is not one safety school on your list. The most likely chance you have is at NYU. Is your family able to pay $55k/yr there?

i’d say USC, Princeton, Stanford and MIT are all definite reaches
columbia is also probably a reach but all of these schools you just have no idea. you definitely have a shot but weirder things have happened. we don’t know your essays, recs, or rank so it’s hard to tell.

the others, i think you have a good shot at… “good”

i was hoping at least UCSD could be a safety…i also have ELC which basically guarantees admission into at least one UC if your in the top 5% of your class…so that is kind of why i dont have any safety’s persay, since worst come worst i wouldn’t mind going to any of the UC’s.

Thanks for your feedback. Also, I am rank 11.

I missed the 2nd SAT scores in my first post. They help.

The ivies remain reaches with under a 1500 CR and math as a ORM from CA. As long as your rank is good (top10%) USC, the UCs and CMU look good. NYU should be safe.

With a 2090 you have no chance anywhere but UCSD and Berkeley unless you have a significant hook.

^Have you looked at the OP’s stats Nervous Breakdown? USC is not a definite reach. It’s a match. If I were you I would just apply to UC Irvine or UC Santa Barbara as a more definite safety than UCSD. It’s doesn’t take more work, you just pay $60 more when you submit your UC app and you can apply to another college. Good Luck

thanks for all the adviceee

also im debating whether to scea to stanford or ed to penn. Stanford is my number 1 choice but wharton comes closely behind it. I have heard that wharton ed is usually “easier” to get into than stanford scea, which draws a highly competitive pool. Ive read that if you are wayy under chance then scea-ing to stanford will not help. With my stats, is it worth giving up wharton ed for stanford scea?

any honest answers would be appreciated!

Personally I would go with the Stanford SCEA since it is not binding. If you do ED to Penn, and are accepted at both, there is no choice there. Still, just a novice at this, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Please chance back.
