-I'm a sophomore and I'm interested in either going to college for nuclear engineering or political science, both interest me.

I'm in the top 10% of my class with a 97 GPA as a freshman and i didn't take school seriously and so far as a sophomore my GPA is a 100 and this is weighted and i don't know how to put those numbers in GPA style format.

So far I have taken 12 Honors Classes(2 of them were half year classes) and 3 electives.

[Sports] I made varsity soccer (bench player) and tennis( #1 singles) as a freshman and obviously sophomore, and run the one mile in indoor track where i hit times of 5:15's.

I plan on running for vice president for my class for junior and senior year, most likely will win.

I plan on joining NHS at the end of this year and eventually in the future running for president or some position.

-If I decide to go down a path of engineering I'm thinking about Georgia Tech and University of Illinois both good engineering schools.

-If I decide to go down the political path I'm thinking George Washington University where my two grandparents on my mom's side went to and my mom also went to. Also Georgetown even though they wouldn't like that jk they dont care.

-Reaches most likely not gonna happen JHU and Duke

-Any advice on the schools or anything.

I chance everyone but nobody chances me shame.

Would be easier if I knew what your GPA was on a 4 point scale and your SAT’s/ACT’s

=p

true im a sophmore so i haven’t taken the tests yet but i should be getting my psats back in december.

You should take an SAT or ACT sophomore year, so you can get a feel for it and then prepare for junior + senior year tests

imo that’s the best way to find out what you need help on and improve your scores drastically

Do you know what your GPA is unweighted?
Your class rank is good, though. Keep it up.

Right now your ECs are on a good track. Just make sure you keep yourself dedicated to them. And definitely join/start clubs/organizations that have to do with engineering or political science so you can showcase your passion as well as get a head start and early look on the two.

Without any standardized testing, it’s really hard to chance you. And your ECs could grow exponentially in a year or two. Just keep up the hard work.

Chance me?

my dad taught at johns hopkins university. you really wont know until you take your sat’s. your school could have any kind of variance in competiveness

My school is just an average public school lol I’m pretty normal unlike some crazy kids on here. My guess at my SAT score will be like 1970 something like that.

Don’t let that get you down. You have a lot of time to prep. I go to a specialized magnet HS and it didn’t help me at all with my SATs.

I rather go to a public high school lol funner.

if i were you i would definitely get more ECs. You need to volunteer and do community service based things. Just remember you can never be over involved.

I agree you should try the SAT/ACTs soon. As long as you keep your grades up, take APs/the most challenging classes offered to you, you should be able to match georgetown and george washington university, especially because your family is alumni. If your doing engineering make sure you get extremely good grades in your science classes. Take AP chemistry and AP Calc.

I’m most likely going to be taking AP Calc and AP Physics senior year.
