So I applied to normal admission and I hope to get in. Please be honest with your opinions whether on I will get in or not. I don't think I will but I never give up easily so I tried.

-24 on the ACT
-3.2/4.0 weighted GPA
-top 30% class rank
-3 honors/ap total in highschool and all senior year classes
-essays were decent
-have 7 extra curricular activities

This one was for my friend haha I figured someone was gonna ask. Yes I was accepted to u of I but my friend was wondering his chances so I did It for him. I think I should of mentioned that. Sorry

I think your chances are 50-50 depending on the stats of the other applicants who were deferred. Your ACT and weighted GPA are rather low as is your class rank. I’d feel better if you had some unique hook - first kid to go to college, minority, single family home, etc. Also, what is the caliver of your high school?

It may come down to your essays. I hope you did a good job of selling yourself! You scare me though when you say they were “decent”. You should be saying they were “excellent”. Essays need to be the one thing that sets you apart from everyone else. Applicants need to really spend time on these essays and make them perfect. In my opinion, that’s the only chance an applicant has to expand on their unique circumstances and make it clear why they should be accepted to the university. Essays should never be a quick, hurry-up-and-get-them-done kind of thing.
