I think your ECs are as phenomenal as they get. However, your test scores are MUCH lower than what Duke wants to see (for the ACT, you need at least a 31, if not a 32). Also, the fact that you took, and got an A in, a SAT Math course at school but haven’t taken the SAT yet and got a 26 on the ACT Math (which is pretty poor, especially for Duke) will look TERRIBLE. I don’t mean to put you down, because that’s not my intention, but for someone who doesn’t know you looking at your application will not be impressed.

Your GPA is very good, but the fact that you got Bs in your AP classes (AP classes are “curved” at almost every school, so that A doesn’t really appear as an A in the adcom’s eyes) will look pretty bad, especially considering you only took 2.

All in all, I think Duke is a pretty high reach. The only way you’ll get in is if you get recruited for running, because then you’ll meet their qualifications of an athlete. But if you’re going in unrecruited, I’d say slim-no chance.

Thanks,
again I’ve only taked the ACT once, and I have taken the SAT, my Critical reading=700, writing= 680 but math-590, again not a strong subject for me. I do plan to take the ACT again in September after doing some major math prep.

I believe the college counselor said they also look at how many AP’s your school offers, and mine does not offer any freshman year, and only 1 Sophomore year.
