Chance me pleaseeeee!!!!! I need someone to chance me!!

HI I'm a senior at my high school and my best SAT score is
CR- 610 (yeah i know...its my weak point)
M- 740
W- 710
Essay-10
total 2060
I originally went from 1740 to 1940 to 2060. I've been working very hard to raise my score I really want to go to Stony Brook for their Honors College and their requirement is a minimum SAT (Cr+M)= 1300 and 93 unweighted gpa. I'm aware honors is very competitive so I hope to at least receive some merit scholarship.

I ranked 7th out of 205 students in my class. (top 5%)

My AP scores are
AP US History- 4
AP Eng- 4
AP Stat- 4
AP Physics B -1...yeah i know, really bad..but i did very well in the class...
AP Euro- 3

My GPA Weighted I think is in the 96.29 weighted
I'm currently in
AP Chemistry
AP Gov't and politics
AP Calc BC
AP Literature

My extracurricular
Student Service Center- Peer tutor, Nursing Home, computer helper, SADD, secretary of the leadership council, gingerbread university, SPARC, etc. (A lot more) Basically various service programs that I have participated in throughout high school.

Science Club and Environmental club- Vice President

Kiwanis Key Club
Drama Club: Stage Crew- Property Manager

During the past summers I was a counselor at my temple (religion club) program.
And the summer following my junior year, I interned under a scientist, conducting science research (applied for INTEL STS and ISEF)

Some honors I've received:

AP Scholar Awards
100 Hours of Service Award (service is somethin I'm very dedicated to)
NYS Science & Engineering Fair 2011- Andromeda Division: 5th overall
Long Island Science Congress: Honorable mention
Sports: Tri-Athlete Award, Scholar Athlete Award, Strive for Excellence

I'm taking the SAT II in math I and math II in december. I hope to get at least 700's since math is my strong point. I also submitted my US history SATII which was only 660. I hope to do well on math. And I am debating whether I should take physics SATII.

I'm applying Stony Brook, Boston University, Binghamton, Macaulay Honors, Pace University, Fordham.
My reach is Dartmouth and maybe another ivy. All ivy's are reaches so I don't expect too much from Dartmouth. I'm just applying as an experience, etc. But I would definitely love to get into Stony Brook's honors college. So Please chance me for my colleges, and suggest me any other colleges that would best "fit me." I would like to apply for a reach school that is not in the Ivy's so if you have any suggestions please let me know. Oh, I almost forgot. I am not positive about my major, but I'm planning to go toward the science/math major.

Hey there. To be honest, I really do not know much about the other schools on your list, except that most of them are in the Northeast (go Pats).

Your numbers seem to be a little bit below the averages. App. 680-780 is the interquartile range on all three sections, and excuse the poor statistics practice here, but that means the 25th percentile on the entire test would be right around your score. But these can be deceptive. A few athletes, legacies, and in Dartmouth’s case, a few Native American applicants may drag down the range. So, in all honesty, you’re not looking too great in that department.

Your AP scores look OK at best. Most Dartmouth applicants have a few 5’s and go oopsies at a single 4, not at a 1.

Your GPA is a 96 weighted. Unweighted, that must work out to, what, a 91, 92? This is just a guess at your unweighted GPA but on a 4.0 scale, that works out to be somewhere around 3.6-3.7. Once again, that seems a bit subpar.

All of your EC’s look good and you seem like a nice person and I wish you the best of luck. Sorry to come down on you like this, but thus is the nature of chances threads.

Thank you for the reply. I know its a big reach so I don’t expect too much. The fact that I’m an asian female would also hurt me significantly so yeah. And yes my CR is not great at all compared to most dartmouth applicants. Anyways, thanks for the reply though, hopefully good news arrive in April when decisions come out :)

I agree with Mcskitt. Your chances are slim. The good news is that you seem very likely to get into Stony Brook Honors, and you want that program. :)

Good luck.

Haha yes stony brook honors would be great. Dartmouth is just for the experience and stuff. Thank you.

You would have to roll double sixes. A long shot.
