Hi Everybody. I applied for ED to swat. I think my chances are pretty dim but do you think I have a good or low shot?

I am a dual citizen of U.S./South Korea (Asian) but I only stayed in U.S. for three years.

SAT I: CR: 670 M: 800 WR: 690 (highest)

SAT II: Bio-M: 790 Math II C: 780 Chem: 700 Bio-E: 660 (i don't know why i even took this,, I never learned ecology in class)

GPA: A- average
course loads are pretty challenging, but our boarding school doesn't have any AP course.

recommendation: one from bio teacher will be stellar.. another from my advisor will be pretty good and so is my counselor's

EC: I don't have a lot but I played piano for 10 years. did assistant pianist for the musical 3 yrs / community service 2~3 yrs/ amnesty international 2 yrs/ jv soccer for 3 years/

Awards: Bio Award given to one (top) student of biology, and bunch of honor rolls. Our school doesn't give out much awards and it's really hard to get involved outside since my school is a boarding school.

My point is this: Do I have any chance at all? Our school rarely sends grads to top schools but I have the top grades for international students at our school. I want to major in biochemistry..

The kind of negative aspects of your application which are caused by the school not having AP/programs, etc, won't affect you negatively.

There's a lot of information missing- the info here looks okay, except for the fact that your ECs don't really focus on one thing you're really passionate about. It's really hard to judge your chances when I don't know things about: Class rank, essays (those are really important to Swat, especially the Why essay), and the competitiveness of your school.

My school doesn't rank...my common app essay was very powerful - according to 2 English teachers and I think my why swat essay was very powerful. I go to a quaker boarding school probably ranked 80th? or something. It's pretty good but our school atmosphere is not competitive. I was one of less than ten people out of approx 120 students of our grade to get honor roll (which is to get above 85 on all courses taken)

personaly, I think you have a good shot. You're reading and writing arn't liek the apsolute highest, but an 800 in math is very impressive, your SAT IIs are great, and concidering i would imagen english might not be your first language, a 670 and 690 are very good scores. Also, as long as your taking the highest level courses you can taht's great, and also you show dedication to music, as well as being well rounded by playing sports. I mean, no one can know, but you def have a really good shot. now just don't take my spot! (j/k) good luck

Oh, that sounds very cool. And when I said the competitiveness of your school, I meant rank, not the attitude of the students- But what you said makes me very jealous. I wish the students at my school were less competitive, it's that quality that originally attracted me to Swat.

I'm not as good with international chances, but I think you have as good a shot as any of us. It sounds like you did your essays well, which is really great.

Thanksx brillar and alexsmol! I appreciate your feedbacks. I hope the adcoms like my essays like my eng teachers did too!

how is he/she international? that person has dual citizenship...?
scores and gpa are okay.. going to boarding school is something special
what made you want to go into biochemistry?
