Chance me pleeease

I'm a senior looking to apply to Vanderbilt in the fall. I'm from an extremely competitive Catholic high school in Michigan.

I visited in the spring and really loved it there.

Let me know what you think.

STATS:

GPA: 3.94W (upward trend) (Our grading scale is quite a bit tougher than public schools)

RANK: 27/153

ACT: 31 with a 10 on writing, will be taking it again this fall

SAT: Never took it. Should I?

EXTRA CIRCULARS:

4 years of cross country (hopefully captain senior year)
4 (all varsity) years of lacrosse (captain for senior year)
2 (varsity) years of skiing (Rookie of the year freshmen year then most improved my sophomore year)
Volunteer all the time at a local hospital and around the city
Yearbook Editor (this will be my third year)
Core Team Member (we are solely in charge of planning the senior 3 day retreat)
National Honors Society Member
French Club
National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine and on Collegiate Success
Tutor in several subjects

Lots of honors classes so far and senior year I'm taking AP Econ, AP Calc, AP Bio, and Honors French 4

We are not allowed to take AP classes until our junior year

State: Michigan
School type: Private (Catholic)
Gender: Male

No Legacy there (Mom went to Michigan Tech and Dad went to Northern Michigan(for undergrad))

And I'm white if that matters for anything.

Could I get accepted? (Assuming I write awesome essays and get great recommendations?)

Unfortunately I think your class rank could damn you IF you send it. I had eerily similar stats but my counselor sent my class rank despite my warnings, and after I was denied admission, I spoke with an admission counselor who told me that class rank was probably the main thing that kept me from being accepted. Keep in mind I did apply early decision, and even then I would have been a borderline applicant minus my class rank, so make sure you apply ED and DO NOT send class rank.

Thanks! Anything else I can do to make my application look better?

“Our grading scale is a bit tougher than public schools.”

I beg to differ.

^ Same. What’s your grading scale?
++ I can’t really tell without an UW GPA…

Well my school doesn’t give out my unweighted grade for some reason. And the grading is as follows…
100 - 95 A
94.9 - 92.5 A-
92.4 - 91 B+
90.9 - 87 B

I could be wrong, but according to friends that go to public schools this is much harder than any public school in Michigan and surrounding states.

In Illinois we have a harder scale.^(; Just calculate it yourself. You seem like a smart kid. Its just adding numbers and dividing.
