I applied to CAS ED. Just want to know my chances of getting in.
Thanks

What’s your writing score?

um it is 610

Your scores and EC’s are pretty low for Cornell… Do you have any hooks that can boost your chances??

Just a question: Did you think about retaking the SAT? I mean if your Math 2 was an 800 you could easily score similar in the regular SAT. It’s probably too late but I’m just curious.

As for your chances, I’d say its a low-reach. Good grades and decent class rigor, barely sub-average ECs and poor scores.

abcritic has a point… how did you manage an 800 on the math II and not on the SAT I’s math portion? Isn’t math II harder? Either way, congrats!!

The curve for math II is a lot more generous. Math I is pretty easy, meaning the curve is smaller. One wrong answer (on multiple choice) and you’ll probably be down to 760.

Still the level of difficulty of Math 2 is much higher. In general SAT’s scoring system works so that if you are a 800 level in Math 2, excluding silly mistakes, you should be at the 800 level for the SAT Is math portion. Thought you are right, one wrong answer and you are instantly dropped to a 780. 2 and it’s a 760.

Guys lets face it the reason the SAT 2 maths curve is so generous is because it is a lot harder. Many people reading CC, including a few of my friends did SAT 2 maths and flopped, because of people saying it was “easy”. Rolexer24’s scores don’t seem to ad up tbh. IMO simply the SAT score is a basis for rejection.

I checked at Rolexer’s other “chance me” post and on that one his stats are very different. 610 in Math 2, and the SAT 1 score was a lot higher. He isn’t using CC as an ego boost as scores are pretty bad on both threads :S.

Cornell does not look at writing.

I suggest retaking the SAT or trying the ACT. You will not get into Cornell with an SAT of 1250, unless you are a superstar basketball player or similar.

Agreed with noragon, the weird SAT scores are very suspicious considering a previous post when OP claimed they had a 780 in Math, 640 in Reading and 660 in writing…

Seems like the only way that would really happen is if you retook the SAT in October and did substantially worse the second time, but I’m pretty sure that Cornell takes superscores, so you’d only report your highest scores in each subject.
