<p>Application wise: Not very confident of my essays; teachers' rec should be okay. Applying all under regular decision. </p>

<p>Anyway, your SAT score isn’t within range for either Cornell or Stanford for a Singaporean applicant - aim to get that up to around 2200 and 2300 at the December or January sitting.</p>

<p>Otherwise, your scores/achievements are okay but not very impressive - especially for HYPSM-level schools. I’d say you have a fair shot at Cornell, probably in at both UTAustin and Michigian and rejected at Stanford.</p>

<p>Any idea how important the roles of essays for UTA and michigan in deciding whether I get admitted?</p>

<p>They get increasingly less important as you move down the selectivity/admissions rate ladder.</p>

<p>Mind if I ask a personal qn, are you on a scholarship or FMS or FA? I wonder if taking a scholarship will be a good choice, considering the 6 years bond.</p>
