OK I’m sorry. I know this can be annoying, and I don’t want to be that guy, but plz halp.
So I’m mostly gonna apply for chem/bio engineering, at schools like Pton, MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Columbia, UPEN etc.
Here are my qualifications
-4.2 UW GPA (grades have always been easy, never gotten less than an A- in a course)
-2400 SAT (11 on essay, old SAT)
-800 Chem, Math 2, and 780 Bio SAT
-1500 PSAT (New PSAT)
-5s on Calc BC, Chem, Bio, Psych, APUSH, Lang Comp, 4 on Enviro, 3 on WHAP (fell asleep LOL)
ECs
-US Chemistry Olympiad Honors (top 150. Might make camp this year cuz taking chem courses at local college.
-Shadowed a neurosurgeon, he’s letting me co-author a paper on a rare cancer case he had (no way it’s gonna be published soon though), got to present with him at a cancer conference
-Research intern in a pharmo/neuro lab (mostly did PCR genotyping though, not too exciting)
-Science Olympiad Officer (3 captains and 3 general officers, around 50 ppl on team), couple state/regions medals in protein modeling, cell bio
- NJ Science League 3rd place for Chemistry 2 (I’m a bit of a chem nerd). School Sci League Prez.
- 1st place and 2nd place at 2015, 2016 NJ Chemistry Olympics for event 9. Eboard for ACS Chemistry Club
- Odyssey of the Mind team cap. State champs for problem 1, got 6th at World Finals. Also, Odyssey of the Mind School secretary (it’s big in our high school, around 250 ppl in the club, 5 eboard members).
- Columbia University Science Honors Program since sophomore year
- Viola player in orchestra (not amazing, failed regions auditions 3 times)
- NHS, Science, French, English, History, and Tri-M Honors Societies.
- 300 volunteer hours
I feel like I might have a shot at some of these places, but my school is really competitive, and I know ppl who made like USAMO and USAPhO and stuff. Also we had a few Intel semis. Ugh
Wish I wasn’t asian.
Thanks for Halp
