Chance Me Plz, I'm an ambitious student!

Stats…
State: California
Race; Asian
Gender: Male
GPA: 3.60 UW (upward trend, did poorly freshman year).
Weighted GPA: 4.0
UC GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1460 (800 Math, 660 CR&W)
SAT 2: 800 Math, Chem, and Physics
Decent ECs.
Intended Major: Engineering.
Colleges I’m applying too: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UW in seattle, UMich, NYU, CWRU, Georgia Tech, Northeastern, Purdue, USC, WUSTL, Rice (fee waiver), and Cornell.

It’s good that you’ve shown an upward trend, however that GPA just doesn’t cut it in caparison to other students that are applying to UC schools. I would say Cornell, Rice, Purdue, Michigan, NYU, and the UC’s would all be reaches, especially if you’re ECs don’t stand out. Though your test scores are better than a lot of the UC applicant’s so you still have a chance, make sure your is really great.

Competitive test scores and UC GPA is within range. Engineering is always tough at the UC’s.
UCI/UCSB are your best bets for the UC’s. Where are your safeties?
UCLA/UCB should be considered Reach schools and UCSD a 50/50 chance.

Best of luck.

@jonathancheong2018 , just wondering how you got the Rice Fee Waiver?

From what I read, UCs and UW are more focused on GPA than most other schools, so the 3.6 UWGPA will hold you back. However, the Asian race may hold you back from other private colleges more. You should have a good chance at UCI, Purdue, Northeastern.

Would you be looking for financial aid?

The GPA and SAT will make Cornell, Rice, and WashU high reaches. Rice is particularly test score driven.

Added to that, you are in the dreaded demographic of the Asian male engineering major. Most of your peers in that demographic will have a weighted GPA over 4.5 and SAT scores north of 1550+ and will still get outright rejected.

Some possible realistic targets could be UIUC, Minnesota-Twin Cities, and UW-Madison.

Thanks for all the replies!!!
@bogeyorpar I got a fee waiver from my SAT Subject test scores.
@Gumbymom Thank you, it’s reassuring to know that my test scores are a match.
@Hamurtle I’m retaking the SAT one last time in December. Hopefully I will break the 1500 mark.
