Thank you very much for viewing this post. Do I even qualify as an applicant? Thank you again

Sounds like you’re a junior and an international student. Good for you for trying to plan ahead. Your TOEFL scores is strong (we generally look for 100 or higher). We also look to see that each subscore is around 25 so if you have any lower subscores you can consider taking the test again. Your SAT is also strong.

We understand that extracurricular opportunities may be less available in foreign school systems and we take that into account when we review your application. However, it sounds like you may be in an American school since you mentioned the possibility of taking APs next year. If that’s the case, do take advantage of AP classes and do take advantage of the extracurricular activities available.

Also, focus time and energy on your essays as we will use those along with the TOEFL to evaluate your English abilities. Since W&M doesn’t offer any ESL classes, a student’s English abilities are critical. You may even want to send a letter of recommendation from an English teacher.

Thank you for your thorough reply, Admission Officer. I took my toefl earlier this year in March, my English wasn’t as strong as I am right now. My subscore is : Reading 26, Listening 29, Speaking 22, Writing 24. I know it seems like my oral english is far from your requirement: 25. But I have been improving since March, the least thing I am afraid of is to speak. My LOR from my current foreign teacher will clarify that. If considering retaking the toefl, vacancy might be a problem.

I am not studying in US. I study in an International Preparatory College in South China, there are some private agencies that provide the AP courses. I figure i’d challange myself with some more challanging courses, such as APs or Uexcel.

Thanks again for your response!

We would recomend you re-take the TOEFL if at all possible. By the time you apply, your TOEFL will be nearly two years old. Chances are a second attempt will yield much better results which can only improve your chances for admission.
