What are my chances for these schools? Please be straightforward and brutal. Thank you. If you chance me let me know your info and I promise I will chance you back. =]

Let me ask you a question.
If you can chance others, why don’t you chance yourself? Eh?

Anyways, unless your missions created profound changes in your life, they are pretty useless.

What did you do at the courthouse?

3rd place in Korean Writing contest in LA is not impressive.

How is the “tartar knights” a prestigious club?

No one cares about NHS

Your AP scores/rigor are abysmal.

A 1 in physics??!?!

Also, you’re an asian applying to asian filled schools.
Your GPA is terrible, and is not reconciled by any other significant achievements.
Your SAT/ACT is pretty bad too.

Only thing going for you is your Founder position with Model UN, Team captain with tennis, and whatever amazing essay/personality you have.

Duke/NYU/UCB/UCLA/UChicago/UTA are definite reaches.

OK thanks advanced Lawlz
How about the other schools?

When I chance ppl, I usually examine the EC’s. But there’s really no point in doing that in your case because your academics are so weak.

Your SAT score is no good. We Asians face immense barriers to our college apps. Your “meh” CR and W scores hurt you, especially given your race. Your Korean SATII will NOT help you because you are Korean. And your US Hist and Chem SATII’s are no good. I don’t know what to say about your AP scores. I can envision admissions officers asking: “How does this kid manage to be in the top 10% of his class and ends up failing his AP exams? Do his teachers inflate grades?”

Even if your bro goes to Duke, if I were you, I’d take Duke off that list. The #8 college in the nation will probably not accept you.

bump bump bump

yea i would say that Duke, USC, Cal Berkley, and Chicago are all pretty tough although the in state thing for USC and Berkley could help… i still think they are reaches though. Michigan is maybe a high match or low reach and UVA maybe a little tougher but not sure. The rest you prob have a good shot. NYU and Carnegie Mellon are also prob high matches.

You have a terribly unbalanced list.

unbalanced? what do u mean?

damn CC is harsh.

seriously, don’t ask other kids to tell you whether you’ll get into college. is it to boost your ego? b/c honestly, no one f****** knows whether you’ll get in or not. i know people with 3.2’s who have gotten into brown and people with 2400s who haven’t. and your stats are great in my opinion, but it’s not my choice whether you are admitted or not.

if a bunch of high schoolers (maybe college students?) tell you that you’re bound to get in or there’s no way in hell that you’ll get in, how will that affect anything?
just apply, and then you’ll get your results. it’s as simple as that.

LOL haha that is so true but I think everyone here who does this chance stuff do it for comfort.
I do it to just see and compare myself with others.

We are not telling him he can’t get in.
We’re just comparing him to others in the applicant pool.

bump bump bump

Good Stats! I’ll be mean-

 1. University of California – Berkley Low Reach
 2. University of California – Los Angeles Low Reach
 3. University of California – San Diego Match
 4. Duke University (my brother currently attends here class of 2012) Low Reach
 5. University of Michigan: Ann Arbor Donno
 6. New York University Match
 7. Carnegie Mellon University Donno
 8. University of Virginia Donno
 9. University of Southern California High Match/Low Reach?
 10. University of Texas: Austin Match
 11. University of Chicago Reach
 12. University of California – Irvine Match
 13. University of California – Davis Match

we have a lot of the same schools!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/764988-non-amazing-stats-hopefull-will-chance-back.html

Bump bump bubmpobpbmpb

Duke - reach
everywhere else- match

ehhh lol thats not likely haha but thx

anyone else?

AOTP don’t listen to these harsh ******. Seriously you have a good shot and don’t be let down.

I know someone with 1870 SAT 1 and pretty bad ECs who ended up getting accepted to Brown. He posted his stats on this forum to read others’ opinions regarding his chances but all he received from them was criticism(and hate lol).

He’s now laughing at them.

Idk about Duke, but Brown and Stanford def. look for more than numbers. And CC is really harsh…and filled w/ hardcore 2300-2400 ppl. Its insane. I believee you’ve had some great experiences in your life w/ all your exposure to those countries. I’m sure your essays will pack a kick ass punch. You could raise your SAT scores, for all of them to be over 700s. So you’ve got as much chance to get into those schools as anyone. Crush it.

I live in VA, and all I’ve heard is UVA for out of state is like applying for ivy…soo… <3
