<p>Your GPA is below average and your SAT is average. I think UW is a reach for you, especially since you are applying as an out-of-state student. Also, because you are Chinese, UW admissions will not give credit for the 800. Stats wise UW is a high reach for you. But your leadership positions are a major plus. Just make sure you write a stellar essay to ensure your place at UW. Btw, I don’t think UW accepts recommendations.</p>

<p>being out of state and Chinese doesn’t help to be honest. It’s a toss-up.</p>

<p>The fact that your GPA is low doesn’t matter as much in this case because your grades show a big improvement. I think you have a reasonable chance.</p>

<p>NYU Steinhardt (Media, Communications, Culture) is not hard to get into. Apply there if you’re interested. I’m not sure about UW though, but isn’t Communications in general not that competitive? So I don’t think it’ll be that difficult for you.</p>
