Chance me, por favor? (I'll chance back muy rapido!)

I'm currently a sophomore in a public high school in New York. I'd like to have an idea of my chances at the colleges that I'm mildly in love with (Wesleyan, Brown, Princeton, Elliott School at GWU, Georgetown)

GPA - 3.9 weighed, I think, calculated using GPA Calculator
Taken all honor classes since 8th grade, with the exception being Spanish (which is horrible for me, and I'm considering dropping it next year)

PSAT - 190... but without studying...
Haven't taken any APs, SAT, or SAT IIs yet, but I'm currently taking AP Art History and taking AP Chem, AP US History, and AP Statistics next year.

School doesn't rank, but I'd assume I was in the top 25%

ECs:
- Spent past summer in Shanghai, China teaching local children English for 2 months. (I have relatives in Shanghai and I moved from there at the age of 5)
- Debate Team (8th grade, 10th grade.. was no debate team in 9th)
- Model UN (9-10. Participated in many conferences, won a bunch of awards including Best Delegate at Columbia this year.)
- Student Government (senator for 2 years)
- Girl Scouts (since second grade, has Bronze Award and working on Gold Award)
- Young Congressional Council (2 kids chosen to represent their school, first year for my district)
- STAND (9-10, officer this year. a ton of volunteer work)
- Young Democrats Club (9-10, vp this year)
- Science National Honors Society (10th grade)
- Literary magazine (10th grade, officer this year)
- Military History Club (9-10)
- Drama club (9-10, stage crew mostly)

I think my hooks would be that I immigrated from China and speak fluent mandarin (so URM?), and that I had to overcome financial challenges while growing up. My err un-hooks would be that I'm not involved in any sports.

I want to major in public relations or international affairs, so any suggestions for colleges that offer a good PR/IA program would be appreciated! Also, if anyone knows of any internships near/around NYC I would be all ears. Cheers and thanks for chancing me!

It’s kind of hard to chance without scores…if you can get a 2100+ on your actual SAT, i think you could have a great shot at Georgetown.
However, top 25% won’t really cut it for Princeton and Brown unless you have something extraordinarily different from the rest of the pack…you need to be top 10 if you’re going the strictly-academic route.
Your ECs look good, so you’re set there.

Chance back?

YEa without scores your a reach at all these scores but keep workin on the class rank and scores!

Yeah, I’m going to be hardcore SAT studying over the summer and whatnot, so hopefully I’ll get a 2100 on my second take next year. I would be thrilled if I got into Georgetown, but I would need full/a lot of FA (same applies to all colleges). I seriously need to raise my grades, since a 3.9W isn’t looking too good.

Also, if anyone wants me to chance back, please post a link. Thanks :)

you have great EC’s , but sorry to let you know asians arent a URM but an ORM.
however if you takeout the SAT and maintain a high gpa i can see you at a top tier college

I’m sorry i have very little knowledge on East Coast schools and cannot chance you.
However overall i see you as a promising candidate for the Ivy league if you keep up the hardwork.

-told you i’d chance back i always chance back =)

I agree completely with 7evexeL, and I wish i was more knowledgable about east/west coast schools. I believe if you get a 33 ACT or the SAT equivalent you will be fine. Granted you don’t have any sports, I feel your ridiculously impressive EC’s will outweigh the sports factor. Just start studying for the SAT and you will get into many top tier schools.

You have great ECs but the lack of test scores makes you really hard to chance. For any ivy you really want a 2200 or more to be compeditive. You also want to get your rank up. I also advise keeping with spanish. Most top colleges like to see a language all four years. Good luck!

I’m totally guessing with my rank, so I could be in top 10% as far as I know. I’m positively in top 25% though, but top 10% wouldn’t be a bad guess. Do you guys think that I need to do something ridiculous this summer, like an internship or something, or just start/finish my Girl Scouts gold award project just so I can get it off my chest in the next years?
