So, let me preface this by saying, i LOVE this school. It is perfect for me in every single way. I write screenplays in my spare time and they have a screenwriting major, so I think I would really love it there. However, I am not sure if they will love me!!

I applied Early Action and was deferred. At the time my GPA was around a 3.2, but I was in honors classes and only had one C.
My extra curriculas are:
Fencing (4 years)
Theater (acting and asst. directing)(4 years)
Peer Minister at my local church (4 years)
President and Founder of my school's Chess Club
JV Soccer (2 years)

Since I was deferred I sent them my mid year grades. Even though I did well in all of my classes which were:
AP Psych
AP Gov
AP Euro
AP Stat
Physics
Intro. to Film
Honors English

I BOMBED my mid-terms and ended up with a C+ in Physics, Stat, and Psych :( These grades were sent to Emerson by my school.

Still, I sent Emerson another letter of recommendation from my film teacher, a picture of me smiling in an Emerson hat and tee, a short screenplay, a resume of all creative works I've produced over time, and a letter of intent.

Sorry for the delay the scores are ballpark, but I think you got deferred due to the gpa. They want it to be around 3.5. Good luck, hope you get in!

I think you are exactly right. However, I hope my love for film and writing will allow them to accept me. There may be plenty of students who applied that have great scores but not even close to my dedication. I suppose all we can do is wait.

I’ll be twiddling my thumbs till April 1st…

Not to be a downer but my daughter had better scores, a higher GPA and a sister who is a current student and was deferred, then waitlisted and ultimately denied admission to Emerson last year. I hope in your case you do get admitted as it is a wonderful school. Have to say though that my younger daughter is now extremely happy at the school she is attending.

Well, dude my GPA was a 3.6 which, like yours, isn’t that great. I was accepted EA for screenwriting, though, so there’s hope.

If your writing is strong, then it’s probably your GPA that’s holding you back. Since grades were already sent, there’s not much left to do. You’ve shown them how badly you want it, and hopefully, it’ll work out for you.

I’d say your chances are probably around 30-40 percent chance of acceptance. Good luck!

Also, side note: I’m a fencer too! Haha, just thought it was a weird similarity

thanks for all the opinions!! I’m crossing my fingers for tonight. And WriterGirl I’m not sure what your chances are, but I was also contacted by a sports team, I think they want me to play soccer. I’m not sure. Guess we’ll wait and see!
