Human Geography: self studied 4

Question: Should I cancel both the english and psychology test? I didn't do that well in the psychology one because i had a track meet that could get me into the regional championships. I was way more focused on that then the test lol. English, i just suck at english :P

Colleges:

UCSB
UCSD
UCD
UCR
SDSU
Stanford
Cal Poly Pomona, SLO
Cornell
USD
USC

On another note, im really serious about track and field. I am new but it doesnt mean that im not good. I went to CIF on my first year with no experience whatsoever in the hurdles. My goals are big this year, which is to reach state. I am looking to be recruited for track and field in the hurdles and sprinting events. My main colleges for recruitment is UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCD, and the Cal Poly's.

SAT scores are low, I know. What goal should I go for to increase my chances? The 2000s? And my leadership sucks at well. The only leadership I had was being captain of the JV team sophomore year (should I even put that in the app.? its JV). I hope being Mexican helps...

I think that the best thing you can do is improve your SAT score.

Consider taking the ACT as well, you might excel at that!

A 2000+ would help immensely. 2100+ and you’re golden… 2200+ you have a real chance at those top tier schools!

thanks! i am taking the ACT as well. see if i do better (i hope!). anymore chances?

bump!!!

come on! anymore chances?

wow, really? ill chance u back!!

come on people! ill chance you back!!

HI
you will definitely have to raise up your SAT for being considered for the top schools. Your grades are average, and EC not that good too.
So must of the top UC’s + Stanford and Cornell will be reaches. Other i dont know.

Chance Back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/745578-what-colleges-should-asian-germany-look-chance-back.html</a></p>

bump!!!

I’d say you’ll get into at least one or two of the lower UC’s as well as sdsu and cal poly with the stats you have.

Those SAT’s need to come up for the top tier schools to seriously consider you. However, stanford is sort of infamous for recruiting(even those with sub-par academics) so if you get really good at track then its a maybe.

stanford-I know a kid who cheated on the SAT and didnt have a very good GPA and he still got in on athletics

p.s. chance me back Im right up top on the chances thread( too lazy to make link)

UCLA Reach, need higher SAT
UCI Match possibily
UCB Reach
UCSB Match
UCSD Reach
UCD Possible Match
UCR Your in for sure
SDSU in for sure
Stanford high reach, need a higher SAT and more EC’s
Cal Poly Pomona, SLO your in
Cornell donno
USD possibily get in if you got some connections
USC Reach, not a match school for you.

chance me back
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/748393-some-uc-school-chances.html</a></p>

anymore chances?

You need high sats! With a 2000, most of these schools will be in your range.
UCLA - reach
UCI - match
UCB - reach
UCSB - match
UCSD - lil reach.
UCD - match
UCR - match
SDSU - in
Stanford - no chance at all unless test scores go up to 2100
Cal Poly Pomona, SLO - in
Cornell - high high reach with your scores.
USD - not sure.
USC - reach.

Also, you should consider not sending the USH ap also. A 3 is not very impressive for most schools.

chance back?: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/748339-chances-top-schools-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

There is no point for you to take the Spanish SAT II since you’re a native speaker.

Your Mexican heritage will help you at a lot of schools but not UCs where it’s illegal to consider race. If you are recruited by the UCs, no problem, but you would have little chance at the top ones otherwise. Stanford can comnsider race, but it’s too big of a reach with your current scores.

I strongly recommed you add some private schools that would be eager to have you for diversity where your stats are a fit. That’s a lot of schools from places in the Northeast like Bates, Sarah Lawrence and Vassar to midwest schools like Macalaster, Carleton and St. Olaf.

UCLA match
UCI in
UCB reach
UCSB in
UCSD in
UCD in
UCR in
SDSU in
Stanford reach
Cal Poly Pomona, SLO in at both
Cornell reach
USD in
USC reach
yea try to get at least 2000+ on sat for Cornell and Stanford, there pretty picky about test scores
can u chance me back plz? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/748134-plz-chance-poor-californian-who-has-compassion-chance-back-2.html</a></p>

nuclear:
why would it be bad to take the spanish sat 2? i know im native but ive seen asians take their native language test and still got into nice schools…

to hmom:
yeah, its a bummer that UCs wont consider race until the class of 2012 (damn, my sister is lucky lol). ill take a look at the other private schools but since theyre expensive, i doubt ill be able to go to them if i get accepted.

anymore chances?

Admissions counselors do not count an SAT II that is your native language. You should think about it. Does an SAT II language exam really measure you ability to learn and master a language if you already know the language. That is like me taking the SAT II Urdu ( if one existed). There would be no point, I mastered Urdu as my first language when I was a 5 years old lol.

You can confirm this with anyone really.

one last bump…
