To me the GRE seems a little low… especially writing… what were the component scores?

I mean I don’t know much about the USC PR program but if it is just a master I think you have okay chances, your GPA is great! I also don’t understand why you think your essay is weak… you have so much writing experience you should make it stand out… then I think your chances would be much better…

Ooops! I just noticed (I’m tired), I put the wrong GRE scores down. I had an 1180. I meant to round to 1200.

Anyway, the average GREs/GPA at USC are:
“The enrolled class had an average undergraduate GPA of 3.41, and an average GRE verbal and quantitative score of 1190.”

I mean, it’s a trade off… My writing samples were good, but my essay was rushed and I was ultimately very unhappy with it. Still, I’ve visited USC and realized that it’s the school I want.

The recs were very good and spoke well of me. So, I dunno where I stand. I’m new to the admissions process…

USC is VERY tough to get into. The GRE score might be a tad on the low side but the GRE is high. A Tier 4 Uni might have a great PR program and Grad Schools will know that. I would say you have about a 70/30 chance. I don’t mean to be harsh…but I know lots of people who applied with perfect GPAs and awesome GREs from Ivy League schools who were not accepted.

Can anyone tell me how important the personal statement is in comparison to the rest of the app… i.e., writing samples, transcripts, recommendations, etc…?
