Chance me/ Prerequisites and Previously Admitted to LSA UM Ann Arbor Question

In 2015, my senior year of college I received a decision stating that I was guaranteed admission for Fall 2016 instead of Fall 2015 (freshman year of college).

I ended up attending UM-Dearborn hoping to switch to Ann Arbor Fall 2016 since I was guaranteed LSA admission. However, due to financial reasons, I couldn’t make the switch, since I was receiving a scholarship at UM-Dearborn I stayed.

This summer I took part in an internship at UM Ann Arbor and fell in love. I want to go back but I have to reapply and go through the process all over again. I am financially stable now and have been putting in a lot of effort in my application.

The only two things that are worrying me is that I have a 3.98 GPA with about 55 credits to transfer and one W on my transcript for my first 400 level Finance course due to an impromptu international trip (community service related). And I am not too sure about what LSA requirements to transfer are but I am registered for the first year English and humanities course that transfer to Ann Arbor LSA.

Will they take my fall 2017 courses into account, even though I’m currently in the process of completing them? And how bad will the W in the first 400 level course hurt me? What are my chances? Please and thank you.

These are questions that are specific to circumstances. Talk to admissions directly. You’ll likely only be mislead here. Go straight to the horse’s mouth.

I’d talk to the transfer office. With a 3.98 at UM-D I’d expect you would be admitted easily, and I would not be concerned about a “W”. You should check and see how many credits will transfer because there is not necessarily a 1-1 correspondence between the campuses, especially if the UM-D classes do not have an equivalent in Ann Arbor.

@TooOld4School Thank you! I just talked to transfer office and they said that LSA doesn’t look for any particular classes to transfer. It’s just they want to see a varied course load that’s rigorous. Just the W worries me because it is the only 400 level course I took and then dropped it literally three weeks after (one day too late).

You should have a chance to explain that. The 3.98 will way override that anyway.
