Since I feel like I post replies to this type of post at least once a week:

If you have an UW GPA above 3.6, your SAT is above a 700 in each section, you do something other than just go to class (other than collecting felonies), and you end up with decent recs/essays, you have a good chance of getting into WashU, and probably any other similarly good school. People can “chance” you, but they’re really just making something up.

I think it’s a crapshoot. You have an excellent SAT score but that’s balanced out by your less-than-outstanding grades/GPA. You’ve had at least two B’s each year, including the ever-important junior year which is quite unfortunate for you. Your extra-curriculars are also about average–they aren’t nonexistent but they don’t stand out, either.

You’re in the middle of the pack. You’ll get into some great schools; Wash U may or may not be one of them.

i know these forums really don’t mean much. i couldn’t care less if it was some twelve year old chancing me (well, maybe i would). i’m just an anxious teenager trying to reassure herself that she will get into some of the colleges she likes, or else risk sinking into a pit of despair at the thought of the upcoming application process and possible failure. too melodramatic? maybe, but i think that’s what most “chance me’s” are looking for.

Ok, here’s the analysis.

Your SATs are somewhat above average for any school in the US. Your GPA is perhaps a bit below average for the top 15-20 schools, but not seriously so.

Your ECs look ok, but not ‘stand-out’.

So, assuming that you apply to one or two reaches, half a dozen or so target, and one or two safety, and based solely on published data in the college guides:

You will get into an excellent school. Which school and how high on the rankings will largely depend on the strength of your essays and recommendations.
