Have you calculated your RAI, based on classes taken, class rank, ACT/SAT? (per the Iowa website, RAI is perhaps the best indicator of your chances). Based on the information you listed, I believe your chances for admission are excellent.

Also, unless it has recently changed, the standard Iowa admission process does not take all your EC’s (which are impressive) into account – unless you request individual review.

As for merit aid, your best bet may be the National Scholars award for OOS students – you are probably near the borderline but I would not be super hopeful. Your low income status may help you qualify for substantial need-based financial aid.

I would check the Iowa web site for scholarship information, and you can always contact the Iowa admissions office to verify information or ask questions – I always encourage this, and the admissions office at Iowa is very helpful and responsive.

Good luck!

Two more suggestions I forgot to mention:

You may want to send your semester grades as soon as they are ready (assuming they raise your GPA) – even if you have been admitted, Iowa Admissions may re-evaluate your qualifications for the National Scholars Award (check this with the admissions office to see if they would re-evaluate).

Try to get your housing application in as soon as possible, as dorm space fills up quickly. If I recall correctly, you can do this as soon as you are accepted.

Good Luck!

My guess from your grades and ACT are that you’ll have no problem getting in. But as RWE suggests, calculate your RAI for certainty. If you don’t know your class rank use something conservative, like 50%.

The page listing the National Scholars as well as others for various socioeconomic groups is here: [Scholarships for First-Year Students - Undergraduate Admissions - The University of Iowa](http://www.uiowa.edu/admissions/undergrad/scholarships/first-year.htm)

You can probably get a few K but you are not in the running for half-ride or better.

I would be surprised if you don’t get in :)

I am 100% positive you will get in.

thank you all! I actually got the official acceptance letter I’m Xmas so that was pretty amazing :)) I’m going to petition for the honors program and hopefully I get in!!!

Thanks for sharing the great news - congratulations!
