ok so i want to major in either PoliSci, International Relations/Global Studies (my main pic), government, or something similar, but many of my extra curriculars dont show this cuz i wasnt sure what i wanted to do till like this year so i didnt have time to show my passion......
Im looking at American University, George Washington, Boston University, University of Pittsburgh, Boston College, (reaches) Georgetown, Haverford and Cornell.

Bump… Bump…

Anyone? Please! I’ll chance back

You are an URM, which makes it harder, but these are my predictions…
P.S. I made these predictions based on what I know they look for (I have toured a few of them already and have at least considered almost all the others), not actually admissions stats.

American University - Match
George Washington - Match/Low Reach
Boston University - Match/Low Reach
University of Pittsburgh Match/Sort of a Safety
Boston College - Only school I don’t know enough about to give feedback
Georgetown - High Reach
Haverford - High Reach
Cornell - High Reach
Realistically I don’t think you will get into any of your reaches. You GPA and scores are low for all three. I recommend you apply to Haverford anyway because they have a holistic approach to admissions and may like your EC’s enough to overlook the slightly low stats. Cornell and Georgetown are both beyond competitive (I believe they both accept around 15 percent), so it is fairly unlikely.

your GPA is low for schools like BU BC Georgetown and Cornell. So work really hard at the beginning of this year to increase it as much as you can because that is probably what could sink you if anything

Thanks for your input and advise!

Anyone else?

HiTOPS! <3

As for your question, you’re into all of your non reaches. If you can increase your SAT score by 150-200 and have solid essays/LORs, I’d say at least one reach. By the way, you should also apply to other reaches like Dartmouth, Brown, etc. I could definitely see you getting into those. If I were you, I would look into EDing to one of the above schools I mentioned, considering your interests. One piece of advice: find a match school you’re happy with and then go all out for your reaches, this way you have nothing to lose. Heck, apply to HYP and you could be surprised. Good luck next year with your workshops

Yay a fellow HiTopser! I’m really excited for next year! And thanks for the advice. I was kinda considering doing something like that so I don’t miss an opportunity to get into a really good university. But yeah, I’ll try to really raise my scores and am studying hard for subject tests to make sure I can get into the match schools.

Bumping…

I don’t see you getting into your reach schools. You might have a chance at BC but i don’t really see you at Cornell or Georgetown and i don’t know enough about haverford to comment. I think your in everywhere else though. Try to get your ACT to a 32 to better your chances.

chance me?
