UW GPA- 3.8 (Not updated for junior year yet, could be a little more or less)
Current SAT- 1400
My school offers 7 AP classes, and almost no one ends up taking more than 5. I took AP Gov junior year and got a 5 on the test.
I have a pretty rigorous senior year schedule with AP Stats, Physics, and English, plus electives that relate to my interests. I took up to Spanish 4, which is as much as my school offers.
CLUBS
-5 years Marching Band (2 years field lieutenant/leadership)
-4 years Drama Club
-3 years Odyssey of the Mind
-4 years Jazz Band (EC), Concert Band (class)
-4 years Tri-M Music Honors Society, plus a bunch of community service hours that I haven’t counted up
I’m from a super rural area, so I guess I’m geographically diverse? (I’m a white female)
I visited schools this summer and the ones I liked were:
-University of Michigan
-University of Wisconsin
-Tulane University
-University of Virginia
-George Washington University
-University of Maryland
-I’m not from Michigan, but my grandpa was a tenured professor at Michigan so that might help. Still a reach though
-A family friend teaches at the Tulane law school, knows the dean of admissions, and has mentioned me to him (I ended up getting a “priority consideration” letter from Tulane, not sure if that’s important).
I’m more into the state school, traditional university feel, so I’m mostly into George Washington for the polisci department and intern/job opportunities.
If anyone has any suggestions for schools on the east(ish) half of the country, with good polisci departments, that have good name recognition, let me know! If someone could give me a general idea of which schools are reaches or safety schools that’d be super helpful.
Sorry this was super long!! Thanks so much if you respond!
