Note; i expect my gpa to go up since not taking science which has consistently lowered it

One good.
Two fantastic (they think i'm god on earth)
could get one more but probably too many

Intresting Facts / Hooks:
Languages: Speak russian, english, spanish and french
Travel: i travel frequently, almost every school vacation, and i have been to six continents and 27 countries. (my family emigrated from the soviet union where traveling outside the country was forbidden. Therefore, they value travel immensely.)
Probably gonna write my essay about part of one of my trips and about how i interacted with people and cultures of the place i visited.
Film: one of the courses i took in school is film. i did quite well in it, and after completing the course, made a polished ten minute film as an independent study. this film is quite good, and i have submitted it to a couple film festivals, (awaiting results), also my film teacher is writing my a supplemental recc, and she thinks i'm the most amazing person on earth. lol -.-
Sickness: Starting with september of junior year, and still, i have suffered multitudes of medical problems. THese include severe allergies, lactose intolerance, headaches, fatigue, a peptic ulcer, GastroEsophageal reflux disease and so on...Yet i managed to not only do well in school while being sick, but i actually significantly improved my grades with a higher courseload.

Please Chance me for the following schools:
Harvard
Yale (grandfather was a distinguished proffesor, dad's half sister went there, help at all?)
Princeton
Brown
Dartmouth
Columbia (mom went to barnard, could that help?)
Williams
Amherst
Tufts
Brandeis
Boston University
Umass Amherst

If you have read this whole post, then Have a Fishy Stick! http://www.imperial-library.info/dogate/til_fishystick.jpg
If not, -.-, go back and read it.

Thanks in advance for input.

I think you have a reasonable shot at all of them. Your SAT score is great!

Please chance me:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735478-can-i-get-into-college-2-3-gpa.html

The grandfather and the Yale thing I think is a great advantage!
Tufts, Boston U, and Umass Amherst shouldn’t be a problem for you at all. If i was an admissions counselor for those schools, i’d be begging you to come!
Not to familiar with Williams.
I would go ahead and apply for Columbia. I think you have a pretty good shot and in my opinion Columbia looks for students who are not just strong academically but those who are very well cultured.
Good luck, I see a very bright future for you!
chance back!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735440-fordham.html

Looks like a great application. You have some serious ecs and hooks. your Sats could be better, but arent horrible-enough to be in the running. legacies do help, btw. your gpa is a tad low, but not too bad considering your course load. I’d say harvard yale, etc are reaches, Dartmouth, Brown, COlumbia especially low reaches, the rest safety-high match. chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736144-chance-upcoming-senior-my-school-picks.html

thanks for the input
since you’re saying grandfather being professor at yale is good, should i apply SCEA to yale?

Apply SCEA to Yale if and only if it is your #1 choice, because otherwise you could be applying early to a school that is less of a reach, like Dartmouth or Columbia and significantly increasing your chances there, where you already had more f a chnace in the first place. I would say you have decent to good chances everywhere, even hugher if you could get your SATs above 2200. Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736194-georgetown-sfs-ea-updated-sats.html

everyone is saying columbia, but what about brown?
i prefer brown over columbia and dartmouth, or is it as hard to get into as the others?

Brown is the hardest of those three due to its recent surge in popularity

thanks to everyone for the input, but could i get some more specific comments as to my strengths and weaknesses, and what parts of my potential application i should try to cultivate, as well as stress in my application and my essay

talk about speaking dif languages and meeting ppl u c in those trips

weaknesses: sat 1? hard classes, awards
strengths: hooks, ec’s, legacies

your ECs seem kind of scattered, IE it doesnt jump out to me that you have a passion and something that you love to do…a lot of people have laundry lists of activities, but you need something to stand out
your GPA and SAT scores are average and solid imo…
Anyways, heres my predictions:

Yale: low reach, the legacy will def help
Princeton: high reach
Brown: reach
Dartmouth: low reach
Columbia: low reach
Williams: in
Amherst: in
Tufts: in
Brandeis: in
Boston University: match? idk much about this place, sorry
Umass Amherst: in

chance me back if you have time? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736548-chance-me-top-schools-ivies.html

Harvard reach
Yale legacy, so reach
Princeton low reach
Brown reach
Dartmouth reach
Columbia low reach
Williams match
Amherst match
Tufts match
Brandeis safety
Boston University safety
Umass Amherst safety
also can u plz chance back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736020-please-chance-rising-senior-8-colleges-4-ucs-4-privates-thanks.html#post1062801669

hmmm your comments are really reassuring
i thought most of the schools would be high reach

but do you really think grandfather being a proffesor will help?
i thought that only your parents being professors helps as legacy, and not so with grandparents

bump
10 char

Harvard: high reach
Yale: mid reach
Princeton: low reach
Brown: reach
Dartmouth: mid reach (they pay a lot of attention to rank)
Columbia: mid reach
Williams: low reach
Amherst: low reach
Tufts: match
Brandeis: in
Boston University: in
Umass Amherst: in

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735819-i-cant-believe-im-actually-doing-but.html

is it seriously harder to get into brown than princeton? that’s bizzare

you have a 3.7 and below a 2200… sorry. you’re not getting into princeton or harvard. maybe yale if you get some good recs but sorry, thats just my honest opinion. and to jjxx… princeton is never a low reach.

I say your a great candidate for ivies!!! You’ve worked hard and it’ll pay off!! I’m jealous :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736982-another-chance-threaddd-wooo-hooo.html

… am i missing something here
