Chance Me: Questbridge Schools

Hi! I’m going to be a senior soon, and I was wondering what my chances are at some of these schools/if they are realistic. I’d like to study international relations, comparative literature, or linguistics.

QB Schools: Dartmouth, Tufts, Williams, Wesleyan, Macalester, Wellesley, Amherst, Swarthmore, Haverford, Davidson

Non-QB Schools: Middlebury, American, Kalamazoo, Wooster

Academic:
SAT: 1420 (supercore) 740 CR 680 Math
SAT II: 730 US history, 680 chemistry, took literature yesterday so scores haven’t come yet.
Classes:
GPA: 96.82/100 (weighted)
School doesn’t rank

  • honors freshman English, honors sophomore English, AP Lang (4), AP Lit
  • honors math I, II, and III, AP calc
  • honors earth science, honors bio, AP chem (yikes a 2 but our teacher was gone for 2 months so we had substitute teachers), AP physics I
  • honors world to 1600, AP euro (5), APUSH (5), honors global issues
  • Spanish II, III, honors Spanish IV, AP Spanish, French II, III, honors French IV
  • art fundamentals, sculpture, drawing and painting
  • health science I and II (PE, but it’s counted in with the rest of our grades in GPA)
  • all course were the most rigorous ones available to me

Recs:

  • one is from my French III, IV, and Spanish II teacher who also taught me French I over the summer. She wrote my rec for QB college prep and she told me she said very good things, and she’s also very familiar with my passion for learning and languages.
  • the other one is from my AP Euro teacher/advisor for all 4 years, don’t think it will be as strong but I did very well in her class and I’m in her advisor group for 15 minutes every morning.

Awards:

  • school art award (9)
  • school French II award (10)
  • Barnard book award (11)
  • world language student of the year (11)
  • QuestBridge college prep scholar
  • probably national Hispanic recognition program

ECs:

  • track (9, everyone makes varsity)
  • gay straight transgender alliance (10, 11, 12, co-president this year)
  • building our lives drug & alcohol free (11,12)
    -Spanish club (11, 12, co-president this year)
  • prom committee (11, only juniors can plan)
  • volunteered at library for a summer
  • drawing outside of school
  • job as a cashier since this June (20-25 hrs/week during summer, 10 hrs during school year)
  • babysat sister when she was younger (9, 10, 11)

Qualitative:
School type: good public
Region: New England
Ethnicity: hispanic/Latina (mother is Mexican, father is white & American)
Income: 20k-30k
Hooks: Latina, single parent home, special circumstances with my family (domestic violence, my father was an alcoholic and had a brain aneurysm last year which accounts for some difficulty in my classes first semester junior year), first gen college, first gen American

Thanks for taking a look at my stats! I really appreciate anyone taking to time to chance me since the application deadline is in a month and it’s stressing me out!
